Cancer is disease which affects many across all age groups and by nature has its natural disease course and cancer care has many complex dimensions and treatment course is done though multimodality management teams and many support groups.
The Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology was conceptualized by its city’s fore fathers in the year 1957 as a private trust, its foundation was initially laid in 1963 at the current Parade ground M G Road and subsequently shifted to the present location on Dr.M.H.Marigowda Road ( previously Hosur Road). It was taken over by the Government of Karnataka in February 1970, with creation of posts in the year 1971. The Construction of the building was done by the PWD and the first phase was completed in December 1972. The Institute was Initially Kidwai Memorial Cancer Relief, Research & Training Institute.
In the year, 1973 the Department of Radiation Therapy with OPD block and the Radiodiagnosis wings were established with 50 Inpatient beds. The wing is currently located in the administrative block with currently running Radiation therapy and Radiodiagnosis services. On 26th June 1973, the cancer care was set rolling with the establishment of the cancer treatment Department, The Inauguration of the Institute was done by the Honorable Sri V.V.Giri ,The President of India and Hon’ble Mohanlal Sukhadia, Governor of Mysore, The Radiation therapy Services and Visiting specialty services was Institute.
From 1975 onwards the 2nd phase of the development was initiated, to establish as full-fledged Cancer Institute with fully organized Departments and manned Departments. Operation theaters and inpatient block with 150 beds were incorporated in December 1975.
Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore was made an Autonomous Institution 1980, with its first Director Dr Krishna Bhargava, who was instrumental in making KMIO a landmark Institute in the country and world (vide Government order NO HFW 43, MSD 70 27th Dec 1979). From then till date the Government, all administrators, all the faculty from various specialties and Staff, donors, philanthropist, have worked hard to uplift the institute and for the betterment of the cancer care and leave no stones unturned to time to time update and implement state of the art treatment, preventive measures etc.

Register on MCC for AIQ and/or via KEA for state quota (50% each)
Fill choices, participate in counselling, wait for seat allotment
