The Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Dr. NTR UHS), Vijayawada has issued a notification regarding the Free Exit facility for Phase-I reported/joined candidates admitted to the BDS course under Competent Authority Quota for the academic year 2026-27.

The notification, dated September 23, 2026, is issued in continuation of the earlier notification dated September 11, 2026.

AP BDS Counselling 2026: Free Exit Deadline

Candidates who were allotted a BDS seat in Phase-I and have reported or joined the allotted college can avail themselves of the Free Exit facility within the prescribed deadline.

The Free Exit request must be submitted to the Principal of the concerned dental college on or before 4:00 PM on September 23, 2026.

Candidates Availing Free Exit Cannot Participate in Further CQ Rounds

Dr. NTR UHS has clarified that candidates who use the Free Exit facility will not be eligible to participate in further phases of Competent Authority Quota counselling for BDS admission 2026-27.

However, such candidates may participate in Management Quota Phase-I counselling of Dr. NTR UHS, if a seat is allotted to them under that process.

Candidates have therefore been advised to take an informed decision before submitting a Free Exit request.

Fees and Original Certificates to Be Returned

The Principals of the concerned dental colleges have been directed to accept Free Exit requests in the prescribed format.

After accepting the request, the college must return:

• All original certificates
• Entire tuition fee paid
• Other fees paid, if any

The colleges have been directed to complete the process and freeze the latest data by 5:00 PM on September 23, 2026.

After the prescribed deadline, candidates will not be permitted to withdraw from the Phase-I joined seat under the Free Exit facility.

Vacated Seats Will Be Filled in Phase-II

Candidates who resign from their Phase-I reported/joined seat before the prescribed deadline will be treated as not reported/not joined.

The seats vacated through the Free Exit process will subsequently be considered for filling during Phase-II counselling, as per the applicable rules.

What Happens to Candidates Who Do Not Use Free Exit?

Candidates who remain on their Phase-I reported/joined seat and do not exercise the Free Exit option will become part of Phase-II counselling, and the applicable Phase-II rules will apply to them.

Phase-I reported candidates who do not exit from their joined seat will also be eligible to exercise Web Options for Phase-II counselling according to the notified procedure and their preferred order of choices.

Candidates Who Did Not Report to Phase-I College

Candidates who were allotted a Phase-I BDS seat but did not report to the allotted college will also be eligible to exercise Web Options in Phase-II.

However, such candidates will be able to exercise options for other colleges, excluding the college to which they did not join.

Candidates should carefully check the Phase-II counselling instructions before submitting their choices.

Important Rule on Discontinuation

Dr. NTR UHS has also clarified that candidates who have reported to their allotted seat but do not utilise the Free Exit facility within the prescribed schedule cannot resign from the seat during the course of admissions, from Phase-III counselling until closure of admissions, as stated in the notification.

Therefore, candidates who wish to leave their Phase-I joined BDS seat should complete the Free Exit process within the specified deadline.

Dr. NTR UHS has provided a prescribed application format for candidates seeking Free Exit.

The application requires details including:

• Candidate's name
• Registration ID
• NEET UG 2026 rank
• NEET UG 2026 roll number
• Phone number
• Address
• Allotted dental college
• Reason for Free Exit
• Candidate's signature
• Parent/Guardian's signature

The candidate is also required to acknowledge in the application that availing Free Exit means they will have no claim over the Phase-I joined BDS seat and will not be eligible for future phases of BDS counselling under the Competent Authority Quota.
