The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam has issued an official notification inviting applications from eligible NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates seeking admission to MBBS and BDS courses under the Special Quota in Government Medical and Dental Colleges of Assam for the 2026 academic session.
As per the notification, candidates belonging to eligible special categories can submit their applications along with the required documents to the DME office on or before 11 August 2026 during office hours.
Applications are invited under the following reservation categories:
In accordance with the Government of Assam Gazette Notification dated 5 August 2026, the state has introduced 2 MBBS seats in Government Medical Colleges under the Orphan Quota.
Under this provision, an orphan is defined as "a child whose both parents are dead", provided the candidate is a domicile of Assam. Eligible candidates fulfilling these conditions can claim admission under the newly introduced reservation category.

Candidates can download the prescribed application form from the official DME Assam website. The duly filled application form, along with all supporting documents required under the MBBS/BDS Admission Rules, 2017 (Amended up to 2026), must be submitted by hand at the Office of the Director of Medical Education, Assam (2nd Floor, Room No. 5).
Applications submitted through post, email, or any other mode will not be accepted. Candidates should also collect an acknowledgement receipt after submitting their application.
