The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam has issued an Educational Notice regarding the 3rd Round Online Counselling for admission into 1st Year MBBS and BDS courses in Government Medical and Dental Colleges of Assam for the 2026 academic session.
The counselling will be conducted for vacant MBBS and BDS seats under the State Quota.
Candidates who have qualified in NEET UG 2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), can participate in the counselling provided they fulfil the eligibility conditions prescribed under the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into 1st Year MBBS/BDS Courses) Rules, 2017, as amended up to 2026, and meet the prescribed NEET UG 2026 cut-off.
The online counselling portal will be available through the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam.
Online Registration: September 28, 2026 to October 1, 2026, up to 11:55 PM
Candidates who have already registered and participated in Round 1 and Round 2 of Assam State Counselling do not need to register again. Such candidates will be able to participate directly in the 3rd Round online choice filling for fresh seat allotment or change of college.
Candidates should complete the registration process within the prescribed deadline through the official DME Assam counselling portal.
After completion of the online registration process, candidates will be allowed to fill their choices for MBBS and BDS seats.
The online choice filling window will remain open from October 2, 2026 to October 5, 2026, up to 10:00 PM.
Candidates will be able to lock their choices on October 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 11:59 PM.
If a candidate does not lock the choices manually within the specified period, the choices will be automatically locked after the deadline.
Candidates should carefully review their selected colleges and courses before the choice-locking deadline.
The processing of seat allotment for the third round will be carried out from October 6 to October 8, 2026.
After completion of the seat allotment processing, the counselling authority will release the 3rd Round result on October 9, 2026, along with the modalities and instructions for admission.
Candidates should regularly check the official DME Assam website for the allotment result and further admission instructions.
Candidates who are provisionally selected through the 3rd Round of counselling will have to report to their respective allotted institutions and complete the admission process as directed.
Reporting/Joining: October 13 to October 14, 2026
Candidates should follow the admission instructions issued by the Directorate and the allotted institution and complete joining within the prescribed period.

The Directorate of Medical Education, Assam, has issued an important restriction for candidates participating in the state counselling.
Candidates who have joined or are holding a seat after Round 3 of counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the 2026 session will not be eligible to participate in the Assam 3rd Round State Counselling.
Such candidates will be removed from the counselling process.
Therefore, candidates should carefully consider their existing seat status before participating in the Assam State Quota counselling.
