The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam has issued an educational notice regarding admission to 1st year MBBS and BDS courses in the Government Medical and Dental Colleges of Assam for the 2026 session.

The notice, dated September 4, 2026, applies to candidates provisionally selected under the PwD (Divyang) category after the 1st Round of online counselling under Assam State Quota seats.

Candidates who appeared before the Medical Board for verification of their disability status at Gauhati Medical College (GMC), Guwahati, on September 3 and 4, 2026, are now required to appear for further physical verification at the office of the DME, Assam.

The provisionally selected PwD candidates must appear physically at:

Venue: Office of the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam, Sixmile, Khanapara, Guwahati-22
Date: September 5, 2026
Reporting Time: 1:00 PM

Candidates are required to bring all relevant certificates in original for further verification.

Admission After Verification

DME Assam has clarified that only candidates who are verified and found eligible during the physical verification process will be permitted to take admission under the PwD (Divyang) category.

Eligible candidates will be allowed to complete their admission into 1st year MBBS/BDS courses on the same day, September 5, 2026, at the office of the DME, Assam.

Candidates should therefore ensure that they reach the reporting venue on time with all required original certificates.

Candidates provisionally selected under the PwD category should:

• Report to the DME Assam office on September 5 at 1:00 PM.
• Carry all relevant certificates in original.
• Complete the further verification process as directed by the authorities.
• Complete admission formalities on the same day if found eligible.
• Regularly check the official DME Assam website for further notices.

Candidates who are not verified and found eligible during this process will not be allowed admission under the PwD category.
