The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam has extended the 1st Round online counselling choice-filling process for admission to first-year MBBS and BDS courses in Government Medical and Dental Colleges of Assam for the 2026 academic session.
According to the educational notice dated August 28, 2026, the extension has been announced following the addition of Bongaigaon Medical College, Bongaigaon to the list of medical colleges in the state.
Under the revised schedule, candidates will be able to access the online choice-filling facility from August 29 to August 30, 2026, until 5:00 PM through the official DME Assam website.

DME Assam has clarified that a revised seat matrix will be uploaded following the addition of Bongaigaon Medical College.
Importantly, all choices that were previously locked by candidates will be opened again. Candidates will therefore have the opportunity to review and modify their college and course preferences before locking their final choices.
Candidates who wish to make changes should carefully review the revised seat matrix and update their preferences accordingly.
The choice-locking facility will remain available on August 30, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 11:55 PM.
Candidates are advised to lock their choices within the prescribed period. If a candidate does not manually lock the choices before the deadline, the choices will be automatically locked after 11:55 PM.
Candidates should carefully check their final preference order before the choices are locked.
After completion of the choice-filling and locking process, DME Assam will process the seat allotment data from August 31 to September 1, 2026.
Following the processing of the counselling data, the college-wise list of provisionally selected candidates will be displayed along with the modalities of admission on September 2, 2026.Candidates who are provisionally selected will be required to complete admission at their respective allotted institutions on September 4 or September 5, 2026, during office hours.
Candidates should take advantage of the extended choice-filling window and carefully review the revised seat matrix before submitting their final preferences. Previously locked choices have been reopened, allowing candidates to modify their choices before the final locking process.The choice-filling facility will close on August 30, 2026, at 5:00 PM, while choice locking will be available from 4:00 PM to 11:55 PM on the same day.
