The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has issued an important notification regarding the preparation of the NEET UG 2026 State Merit List and the conduct of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Stray Vacancy rounds of online counselling for admission to MBBS, BDS and BHMS courses in government and private medical colleges/institutes across Jharkhand.
The counselling process will be conducted for candidates who have qualified NEET (UG) 2026 and meet the eligibility and residential requirements prescribed by the Board.
The counselling will be conducted for state quota seats in:
Seats are available in Government and Private Medical Colleges/Institutes of Jharkhand.
Candidates must have completed 17 years of age by December 31, 2026, or must attain the required age by that date. The notification states that there is no upper age limit.
Candidates must have individually passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English and generally secured at least 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying examination.
For candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC (NCL) categories, the minimum qualifying marks are 40%. The minimum qualifying marks for eligible PwBD/PwD candidates are also 40%, as specified under the applicable NMC and DCI regulations.
Candidates must also have obtained a rank in the NEET UG 2026 merit list for admission to undergraduate medical courses.
Candidates must be Indian citizens and local/permanent residents of Jharkhand as defined under the applicable state government provisions.
A valid Local Resident Certificate issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) or Deputy Commissioner of Jharkhand will be required at the time of admission at the allotted institute.
The notification states that the prevailing Jharkhand Government reservation policy will apply.
Candidates claiming caste-based reservation must produce the required certificate in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority. BC-I and BC-II candidates must satisfy the applicable non-creamy layer requirements.
Candidates claiming EWS reservation must possess the prescribed Income and Assets Certificate issued by the competent authority.
For PwD/PwBD reservation, the notification states that Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, Jamshedpur have been authorised to issue disability certificates for MBBS, BDS and BHMS admissions from the academic year 2024-25. Disability certificates issued by a Civil Surgeon will not be valid under the stated provision.
JCECEB has stated that detailed verification of residential, caste, income, disability and other certificates will be undertaken in coordination with the concerned district administration.
The Board has warned that forged certificates or incorrect category claims may result in criminal action and debarment from examinations and admission.
Candidates recommended for admission must submit all required original certificates and documents according to their seat allotment. Failure to produce the required documents may result in cancellation of the Provisional Seat Allotment Letter.

The 1st Round of Online Counselling will be conducted on the basis of the State Merit List published on August 12, 2026.

JCECEB has notified that online counselling will be conducted through multiple rounds, including the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Stray Vacancy rounds, for available state quota seats.
The notification provides the detailed schedule for the first round, while subsequent rounds will be conducted according to the counselling process and availability of seats.
