The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released comprehensive counselling guidelines for NEET UG 2026 candidates participating in admissions to Banaras Hindu University (BHU), JIPMER, AFMC, and Central Institutes offering B.Sc. Nursing programmes.
The guidelines explain the counselling process, eligibility conditions, reservation policies, seat conversion rules, and mandatory reporting requirements for participating candidates.
According to the counselling handbook, all NEET UG qualified candidates across India are eligible to participate in counselling for IMS-BHU and IDS-BHU. Admission will be conducted through four counselling rounds, including the Online Stray Vacancy Round.
BHU admissions are domicile-free, and reservations will follow the Central Government policy for seats contributed by the university.
For JIPMER Puducherry and Karaikal, MCC will conduct counselling for All India Quota seats, while state quota admissions will be handled separately according to Puducherry authorities.
Candidates are advised to verify JIPMER-specific eligibility conditions before participating in counselling. Seat conversion for reserved categories will take place during Round 3 if eligible candidates are unavailable.
MCC will also conduct online counselling for Central Institutes and IP University-affiliated B.Sc. Nursing colleges based on NEET UG 2026 scores.
The counselling will follow Central Government reservation norms, while participating institutes will apply their own eligibility requirements wherever applicable. Updated eligibility criteria for BHU B.Sc. Nursing have also been included in the handbook.
The counselling handbook reiterates that candidates allotted a seat must physically report to the allotted college with original documents to confirm admission. MCC also clarified that counselling registration and choice filling should be completed only through the official portal using the registered mobile number and email ID.
