The Directorate of Health Services Medical Education & Research (DME), Meghalaya, has released an advertisement for Third Round counselling for admission to the 1st Year MBBS course at P.A. Sangma International Medical College & Hospital, Baridua, 9th Mile, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya, for the academic session 2026-27. The notification was issued on October 1, 2026, under Memo No. DHSME&R.152/USTM/MBBS/2026/6689.
The Meghalaya DME has invited online applications for admission against State Quota, Management Quota and NRI Quota seats. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Department website.
The online application process for the third round will commence on October 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM onwards. The last date to submit the online application is October 5, 2026, up to 5:00 PM.
The counselling is scheduled to be conducted on October 8, 2026. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official Meghalaya Health Department website for further information regarding counselling, reporting and seat availability.
According to the notification, a total of 61 MBBS seats are available for the third round of counselling at P.A. Sangma International Medical College & Hospital.

The authority has clarified that information regarding other counselling rounds and the availability of seats will be announced separately through the official government website.
Candidates seeking admission to the MBBS course must have qualified NEET UG 2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The minimum NEET qualifying criteria mentioned in the advertisement are:

For admission under the State Government Quota, candidates must fulfil the domicile and category requirements prescribed by the Meghalaya Government.
Candidates must either belong to the Scheduled Tribe or Scheduled Caste category, including other Scheduled Tribes and SC categories, of Meghalaya and possess a valid certificate issued by the competent authority, or be a permanent resident of Meghalaya holding a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) for the General category as prescribed by the state government.
For MBBS admission, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with English as one of the languages. General category candidates must have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology, while ST/SC/OST candidates must have secured at least 40% aggregate marks.
Candidates must also be declared qualified in NEET UG 2026, and merit/ranking will be determined based on the NEET UG 2026 All India Rank.
For Management Quota seats, candidates must be citizens of India and must meet the prescribed academic and NEET eligibility requirements.
Candidates should have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and secured at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology for the General category and 40% aggregate marks for ST/SC/OST candidates.
Candidates must also be declared qualified in NEET UG 2026, with merit determined on the basis of their NEET UG 2026 All India Rank.
NRI candidates are eligible for admission subject to the rules and regulations of the Government of Meghalaya and Government of India.
NRI applicants must upload a certificate issued by the Indian Diplomatic Mission in the country of their residence in support of their NRI status.
The notification states that admissions under the NRI quota shall strictly comply with the revised MCC guidelines issued on May 27, 2026.
The academic eligibility requirements are the same as those prescribed for the MBBS course, including Class 12 qualification with English, the required aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology, and qualification in NEET UG 2026.
The candidate must be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the year in which admission is sought.
Candidates must also be medically fit, with medical fitness to be certified by a Medical Board constituted by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya.
The notification specifically states that candidates who had applied in the First Round or Second Round of counselling, were selected, but did not take admission cannot reapply.
For PwBD candidates, medical assessment will be undertaken only by recognised Medical Assessment Boards notified under the latest NMC regulations.
The notification has also provided the broader NEET UG 2026 counselling schedule. For State Counselling, the Round 3 counselling period is scheduled from September 28 to October 9, 2026, followed by verification of joined candidates by the state counselling authorities on October 15, 2026.
The last date of joining for the relevant counselling process is October 14, 2026 for the State Counselling schedule mentioned in the notification.
The date for reporting to the office of the Director of Health Services Medical Education & Research, Health Complex, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, for counselling and submission of original documents will be notified through the official website.
The issue and download date of the allotment letter will also be notified by the DME.
Counselling for all State Quota, Management Quota and NRI Quota seats will be conducted by the Meghalaya State Counselling Authority for Medical Education (MSCAME).
Candidates must first complete online registration through the official Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Department website.
Seat allotment will be based on NEET rank and applicable reservation criteria for State Quota seats. The counselling process will be conducted in multiple rounds as per the notified schedule.
Candidates selected for a seat will be required to appear for document verification and submit the prescribed original documents.

NRI candidates will additionally need to provide documents relating to NRI status, passport and visa details, relationship documents, sponsorship documents and affidavits prescribed by MCC, as applicable.
As per the MCC guidelines mentioned in the notification, candidates opting for Freeze are required to physically report to the institution for completion of admission formalities.
Candidates opting for Float will retain their allotted seat and remain eligible for upgradation in subsequent counselling rounds. They will not be required to complete final admission formalities until their allotment becomes final.
The application and counselling fee structure varies according to the quota.

The application fee is exempted for SC, OST and ST candidates under the State Quota. Candidates who applied in the First or Second Round but were not selected can reapply and are exempted from the application fee.
The notification states that payment is to be made through SB-Collect using the prescribed payment link.

The fee is subject to the applicable fee fixation committee provisions.
Candidates can make payments through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or UPI. The authority has cautioned candidates that merely having the fee deducted from a bank account does not by itself constitute proof of successful fee payment.
Candidates must fill all details in the online application form carefully. The applicant will be responsible for the correctness and accuracy of the information provided, including academic marks, category status and uploaded documents.
The information and documents submitted by candidates will be subject to verification. If any information or document is found to be false, fabricated or incorrect at any stage of admission or during the course of study, the admission may be cancelled. The candidate may also be debarred from seeking admission under the State Government quota for three years, and appropriate legal proceedings may be initiated in cases involving fraudulent documents.
