The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India, has announced a Resignation/Seat Withdrawal facility for NEET MDS Counselling 2026.
According to the urgent notice bearing reference U-12021/06/2026-MEC, dated September 25, 2026, the competent authority has allowed candidates who accepted and joined their Round 1 or Round 2 allotted MDS seats under FREEZE or FLOAT status to resign or withdraw from their seats.
The facility has been introduced following requests received from candidates seeking resignation from their NEET MDS 2026 allotted seats.
Eligible candidates can use the resignation/seat withdrawal facility during the following period:

Candidates must complete the resignation process within the prescribed window.
Candidates who selected FREEZE and now wish to resign or withdraw from their Round 1 or Round 2 seat must physically report to the allotted institute to complete the resignation process.
Candidates should follow the instructions of the allotted institute and ensure that the resignation is formally recorded.
Candidates who were allotted a seat under FLOAT status and were not upgraded can resign or withdraw their Round 1 or Round 2 seat by logging into their MCC account.
Such candidates are required to:
MCC has specifically stated that failure to generate the required online Seat Withdrawal Slip will result in the resignation being treated as “Null & Void.”
Candidates are advised to ensure that their Resignation Letter/Seat Withdrawal Slip is generated through the portal provided by MCC.
If the required document is not generated through the prescribed MCC portal, the resignation will be treated as Null & Void.
Candidates should therefore verify that the online resignation or withdrawal process has been completed successfully before the deadline.
The resignation facility is being provided with forfeiture of the security deposit.
Candidates deciding to withdraw their Round 1 or Round 2 allotted seat should therefore take note of the applicable financial consequence before completing the resignation process.
MCC has clarified that once a candidate has resigned from or withdrawn the allotted seat, the candidate will have no claim over the resigned seat.
