NEET UG Counselling 2026: Round 2 Schedule Released, Joining Deadline September 18

The NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 2 schedule has been released for candidates seeking admission to MBBS and BDS courses under the All India Quota, Deemed and Central Universities and State Quota.

As per the schedule, Round 2 of counselling will be conducted from September 3 to September 11, 2026. Candidates allotted seats during the second round will have to complete their admission and joining formalities within the prescribed deadline.

The counselling authorities have also issued an important instruction to participating institutes and colleges. Considering the limited time available for conducting the counselling process, all Saturdays, Sundays and Gazetted Holidays will be treated as working days.

Round 2 Counselling from September 3

The second round of NEET UG Counselling 2026 is scheduled to take place from September 3 to September 11, 2026.

The Round 2 process will cover seats under the All India Quota, Deemed Universities and Central Universities, as well as seats under the State Quota counselling process.

Candidates participating in Round 2 should carefully follow the instructions issued by the respective counselling authority and complete all required admission formalities within the prescribed schedule.

Joining Deadline is September 18

Candidates who are allotted seats in Round 2 must complete their joining and admission formalities by September 18, 2026.

Candidates should not wait until the final date to report to the allotted institution. They should carry all required documents and complete verification, fee payment and other admission formalities as instructed by the concerned counselling authority or institute.

Failure to complete the joining process within the prescribed deadline may affect the candidate's admission status as per the applicable counselling rules.

Joined Candidate Data Verification

The schedule also specifies timelines for verification of joined candidates' data.

For the All India Quota, Deemed and Central Universities, verification of joined candidates' data by MCC is scheduled for September 19, 2026.

For the State Quota, verification of joined candidates' data by the respective State DMEs / State Counselling Authorities will take place from September 7 to September 11, 2026.

Saturdays, Sundays and Gazetted Holidays to Be Working Days

An important instruction accompanying the schedule states that, considering the limited time available for conducting counselling, all participating institutes and colleges must treat Saturdays, Sundays and Gazetted Holidays as working days.

Candidates should therefore not assume that counselling, reporting or admission-related activities will remain closed on weekends or gazetted holidays during the prescribed schedule.

Institutes and colleges are expected to strictly follow the notified timeline to ensure timely completion of the counselling process.

What Candidates Should Do Now

Candidates participating in NEET UG Counselling Round 2 should regularly check the official counselling portal of the applicable authority for detailed instructions regarding registration, choice filling, seat allotment, reporting and admission.

Candidates who receive an allotment should carefully follow the reporting schedule and complete the joining process on or before September 18, 2026.They should also keep their admission documents, NEET UG scorecard, allotment letter and other required certificates ready for reporting at the allotted institute.
