The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the schedule for Round 2 of NEET UG Counselling 2026 for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses for the academic session 2026-27.

The schedule covers counselling under the All India Quota (AIQ), Deemed Universities and Central Universities, along with the corresponding State Quota counselling schedule. The Round 2 process will begin in September following the completion of the Round 1 admission and joining process.

As per the schedule, Round 2 counselling for All India Quota, Deemed and Central Universities will commence on September 3, 2026, while the State Counselling Round 2 process will begin from September 7, 2026. The Round 2 seat allotment result is scheduled for September 11, 2026.

NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 2: Important Dates

The MCC schedule specifies that the last date for joining allotted seats is September 18, 2026. The verification of joined candidates' data will be conducted on September 19, 2026 by MCC for the applicable All India counselling and by the respective State DMEs/State Counselling Authorities for State counselling.

All India Quota Round 2 Counselling

For All India Quota, Deemed Universities and Central Universities, the Round 2 process will start on September 3, 2026.

Candidates will be required to complete the applicable registration, fee payment and choice-filling activities according to the detailed MCC timeline. The Round 2 seat allotment processing will take place before the result is announced on September 11, 2026.

Candidates allotted seats in Round 2 will have to report to their respective medical or dental colleges within the prescribed joining period.

State NEET UG Counselling Round 2

The State Quota Round 2 counselling will be conducted separately by the respective State Counselling Authorities.

As per the schedule, State Counselling Round 2 will be conducted from September 7 to September 11, 2026. Candidates participating in state-level NEET UG counselling should follow the individual schedule and instructions issued by their respective state counselling authority.

The last date for joining an allotted seat remains September 18, 2026.

NEET UG 2026 Academic Session to Begin September 15

The schedule also specifies September 15, 2026 as the commencement date for the UG academic session.

Medical and dental colleges participating in the counselling process are required to follow the prescribed admission timeline so that the academic session can commence according to the notified schedule.

Saturdays, Sundays and Gazetted Holidays to Be Working Days

The counselling schedule contains an important instruction for participating institutes and colleges.

To ensure strict adherence to the counselling timeline and considering the limited time available for completing counselling and admissions, all participating institutes/colleges have been directed to treat Saturdays, Sundays and Gazetted Holidays as working days.

Candidates should therefore not assume that counselling, verification or admission activities will be closed on weekends or gazetted holidays during the prescribed schedule.

Verification of Joined Candidates

After candidates complete the joining process, the data of joined candidates will be verified by the concerned authorities.

For All India Quota/Deemed/Central University counselling, the verification will be carried out by MCC.

For State Quota counselling, verification will be undertaken by the respective State DMEs/State Counselling Authorities.

The verification is scheduled for September 19, 2026.

Candidates participating in NEET UG Round 2 counselling should:

1. Check the official MCC counselling portal for the detailed schedule.
2. Complete registration and fee payment within the prescribed timeline, wherever applicable.
3. Fill and submit their preferred colleges and courses carefully.
4. Lock choices within the specified choice-locking window.
5. Check the Round 2 seat allotment result on September 11, 2026.
6. Download the allotment letter if a seat is allotted.
7. Report to the allotted institute within the prescribed joining period.
8. Complete document verification and admission formalities.
9. Keep copies of all submitted documents, payment receipts and allotment-related records.

Candidates should carefully follow the rules applicable to their counselling category before making any decision regarding seat acceptance, upgradation or joining.
