Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot has released the schedule for the 3rd Round of Punjab State online counselling for admission to MDS courses under NEET MDS 2026. The counselling will be conducted for eligible NEET MDS 2026 qualified candidates seeking admission or upgradation to MDS seats under the Punjab State counselling process.

The tentative vacancy position for Round 3 will be displayed from October 2, 2026. BFUHS has clarified that the vacancy position will be automatically updated if any candidate from Round 1 or Round 2 surrenders a seat through exit with forfeiture up to October 13, 2026, by 5:00 PM. Candidates are therefore advised to review the automatically updated vacancy position while filling their choices.

Punjab NEET MDS Round 3 Registration and Fee

Fresh online registration and applications for State Quota seats will be invited from October 3 to October 6, 2026. NEET MDS 2026 qualified candidates will have to submit their applications through the University website and pay the applicable registration fee through the BFUHS payment portal.

The registration fee is INR 5,900, including INR 5,000 plus 18% GST, for candidates under the general category. The registration fee for SC candidates is INR 2,950, including INR 2,500 plus 18% GST.

Freshly registered candidates must also submit their willingness to participate in Round 3 along with the prescribed security deposit. Candidates who fail to submit willingness and the required security deposit will not be considered for the third round.

Security Deposit for Round 3

The security deposit required for submitting willingness is as follows:

College Type Security Deposit
Government Colleges INR 25,000
Government Colleges – SC/BC/PwD INR 10,000
Private Colleges INR 2,00,000

The willingness and security deposit submission window will remain open from October 3 to October 6, 2026.

Candidates who were already registered for Round 1 or Round 2 and have not been allotted any seat in the previous rounds do not need to register again or deposit the security amount again if they have already deposited it for Round 2. However, such candidates must submit their willingness to participate in Round 3.

Application Editing and Category Changes

The last date for correction or editing by freshly registered candidates in the online application form is October 6, 2026. After this deadline, the application will be locked automatically.

Candidates already registered in Round 1 or Round 2 who want to make changes relating to category, minority quota or other particulars must submit a request personally at the Admission Branch of BFUHS along with relevant supporting documents by October 6, 2026. BFUHS has clarified that such requests will not be accepted through email after the prescribed deadline.

PCMS Incentive Category

Candidates belonging to the PCMS incentive category who registered during Round 1 or Round 2 and wish to participate in Round 3 must submit the NOC issued by the Competent Authority/Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Department of Health and Family Welfare personally at the University by October 7, 2026.

Applications without the required NOC will not be considered for incentive marks during Round 3 counselling.

NRI and Minority Quota

The last date for submitting the admission application form for the NRI quota is October 7, 2026. The eligibility certificate application form and admission application form for NRI candidates will be available separately on the University website.

Candidates applying under Sikh Minority or Christian Minority Quota must report to the respective minority institution for verification of their minority status by October 7, 2026. Sikh minority candidates will report to SGRD Institute of Medical Sciences, Amritsar, while Christian minority candidates will report to the concerned Christian minority institution in Ludhiana.

Candidates whose minority status was already verified during Round 1 or Round 2 do not need to undergo verification again. Candidates who registered under the minority quota previously but did not complete minority-status verification can report for verification during Round 3.

Punjab NEET MDS Round 3 Merit List and Choice Filling

The Provisional Merit List will be displayed on October 8, 2026. Candidates can submit objections, if any, by personal appearance along with relevant documents until October 9, 2026, up to 3:00 PM.

If the provisional merit position changes after consideration of objections, the revised position will be displayed on the University website on October 9, 2026.

Candidates who submit willingness for Round 3, including NRI candidates, will be required to fill and submit their online choices/preferences for speciality and college from October 9 to October 14, 2026.

Candidates should note that the vacancy position may change during the counselling process due to surrender, shifting or conversion of seats. Therefore, candidates are not restricted to filling only those choices that appear in the vacancy position at a particular point in time.

Seat Surrender by Round 1 and Round 2 Candidates

Candidates who have joined seats allotted in Round 1 or Round 2 of Punjab State counselling may surrender their seats up to October 13, 2026, by 5:00 PM, subject to security forfeiture.

Candidates wishing to surrender their seats must submit the surrender application to the Principal of the concerned college. The college will then surrender the seat through the online portal so that the vacancy can be updated for Round 3.

BFUHS has clarified that candidates who resign or surrender their seats during this period with forfeiture will not be able to participate in further rounds of MDS counselling 2026.

Punjab NEET MDS Round 3 Allotment Dates

Seat allotment processing will be conducted from October 15 to October 17, 2026. The provisional allotment result will be displayed on October 18, 2026.

Candidates can submit objections to the provisional allotment through personal appearance along with relevant documents by October 19, 2026, up to 3:00 PM. If there is any change after considering the objections, the revised provisional allotment will be displayed on October 21, 2026.

Who Can Participate in Round 3?

Candidates applying afresh for Round 3 include those who are registering for the first time, candidates who did not join the seat allotted or upgraded in Round 2, and candidates who exited with forfeiture in Round 2. Such candidates have to complete fresh registration and deposit the applicable security amount.

Candidates who are already registered but were not allotted any seat in Round 1 or Round 2 do not have to register again. However, they must submit willingness and choices according to the Round 3 schedule.

Candidates who resigned or surrendered a Round 1 seat under free exit up to September 24, 2026 also need not register afresh, but they must submit willingness along with the prescribed security amount and fill fresh choices.

Candidates will not be eligible for Round 3 allotment if they have inadequate documents, fail to register in the applicable counselling round, fail to submit willingness, or are holding an AIQ seat in a previous round as per the list provided by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

Important Round 3 Counselling Rules

Candidates who have joined a Round 1 or Round 2 seat and wish to upgrade or shift their seat during Round 3 do not have to surrender their existing seat before participating. They must submit willingness and fresh choices for Round 3.

Once a candidate's seat is upgraded in Round 3, the previous seat will automatically be vacated and offered to another candidate according to merit. The candidate cannot claim the previous seat if they subsequently do not join the newly upgraded seat.

Candidates allotted a Round 3 seat must report and complete admission within the prescribed deadline. Merely paying the required fee does not guarantee the right to retain the allotted seat. Failure to join the allotted Round 3 seat can lead to penalty and forfeiture of the security deposit, and the candidate will become ineligible for further counselling rounds.

Once a candidate joins the Round 3 allotted seat, the candidate will not be permitted to vacate the seat.

Tuition fees already paid in earlier rounds can be adjusted against the fee payable for an upgraded seat, except for any applicable penalty. Candidates may have to pay the remaining amount or may receive a refund of excess fee paid, as applicable.

Demand Draft or cheque will not be accepted for tuition fee payment. Candidates must make the payment through the University payment gateway.

The security deposit may be forfeited if a candidate does not join an allotted seat in Round 2 or subsequent rounds, if admission is cancelled due to incorrect information or failure to produce required documents, if a Round 1 seat is surrendered after the free-exit period, or if a joined Round 2 seat is surrendered.

BFUHS has also clarified that NRI and reserved-category seats may be converted to open merit during Round 3 after eligible candidates in the relevant categories have been exhausted. Therefore, candidates can submit preferences for colleges and specialities even if those seats are not currently shown in the vacancy position, as vacancies may arise during the counselling process due to shifting or seat conversion.
