As per Notification No. 027/SCS1(1)/2026 dated September 9, 2026, the Selection Committee has received the required regulatory approvals, Letters of Permission (LoP) from the competent authority/National Medical Commission (NMC), and university approvals for additional MBBS intake in the listed institutions.

These newly sanctioned seats have been included directly in the ongoing State Round 2 Online Counselling.

Total Additional MBBS Seats: 250

Seats to Be Distributed as per Tamil Nadu Quota Rules

The Selection Committee has clarified that the newly added seats will be apportioned according to the prevailing Government and Management Quota ratio and the Communal Reservation guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Therefore, candidates should check the updated seat matrix and applicable category-wise distribution before finalising their preferences.

Candidates Can Edit and Add College Preferences

All eligible candidates participating in Round 2 counselling are permitted to modify their choices for the newly included medical colleges.

This facility is also available to candidates who have already submitted their choices.

Candidates can:

  • Edit existing choices
  • Reorder preferences
  • Add the newly included medical colleges
  • Reconsider their college preferences before final allotment

Candidates should carefully arrange their choices according to their preferred college, course and eligibility.

Seat Allotment Based on NEET UG 2026 State Rank

The Selection Committee has clarified that allotment of seats will be made strictly on the basis of:

  1. NEET UG 2026 State Rank
  2. Communal Reservation
  3. Preferences exercised by the candidate

Therefore, simply adding a newly included college to the preference list does not guarantee allotment.

Candidates should ensure that their preference order accurately reflects their admission priorities.

New Medical College Added to Round 2

Among the three institutions, APS Medical College Hospital, Mevaloorkuppam, Kancheepuram is a newly established self-financing medical college included with an initial intake of 150 MBBS seats under a new LoP.

The addition of this college significantly increases the number of MBBS seats available to candidates during the ongoing Round 2 counselling process.
