The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education & Research, Chennai, has issued an urgent notification regarding the inclusion of additional MBBS seats in self-financing medical colleges and a newly permitted medical college for the ongoing Round 2 Online Counselling for MBBS/BDS Degree Courses 2026-27.
The notification, No. 027/SCS1(1)/2026 dated September 9, 2026, states that the Selection Committee has received the required regulatory approvals, Letters of Permission (LoP) from the competent authority/National Medical Commission (NMC) and university approvals for additional MBBS intake.
Considering the interest of aspiring medical candidates, these newly sanctioned seats have been included directly in the ongoing Tamil Nadu State Round 2 Online Counselling.
A total of 250 additional MBBS seats have been added across three medical colleges.

The 150 seats at APS Medical College Hospital represent the initial intake under a new Letter of Permission (LoP), while the 50 seats each at Madha Medical College and Arunai Medical College represent increased intake.
The newly approved seats have been incorporated directly into the ongoing Round 2 counselling process.
Candidates participating in Round 2 can now consider these newly added medical colleges while modifying their preferences.
The Selection Committee has clarified that the seats will be apportioned according to the prevailing Government and Management Quota ratio and Communal Reservation guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
All eligible candidates participating in Round 2 Online Choice Filling/Choice Locking have been permitted to modify their choices.
