Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026: Round 1 Online Counselling Schedule Released for MBBS & BDS

The Tamil Nadu Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education & Research, Chennai has released the Round-I Online Counselling Schedule for admission to MBBS and BDS degree courses for the 2026-27 academic session. The counselling covers seats in Tamil Nadu Government Medical and Dental Colleges, ESIC Medical College, K.K. Nagar, Chennai, self-financing medical and dental colleges, State Private Universities, Christian Medical College, Vellore, and other specified categories.

Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1: Important Dates

Candidates participating in Round 1 counselling can complete registration, fee payment, choice filling and choice locking from August 13 to August 19, 2026, up to 5:00 PM.

Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS Counselling 2026: Rank and NEET Score Range

For Government Quota (GQ) seats, candidates with General Rank from GR 001 to GR 35926 and NEET scores ranging from 705 to 177 are included in the specified Round 1 range.

For Management Quota (MQ) seats, the specified range is GR 001 to GR 26956, with NEET scores ranging from 693 to 177.

The notification specifies these ranges for the Round-I online counselling process.

Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026: Registration Fee

Candidates must pay a non-refundable registration fee while participating in online choice filling:

  • Government Quota: Rs. 500
  • Management Quota: Rs. 1,000

In addition, applicable refundable security deposits are required depending on the quota and type of institution.

Security Deposit for Government Quota

For Government Medical Colleges and Government Dental Colleges, the security deposit is Nil.

For Government Quota seats in Self-Financing Medical/Dental Colleges and State Private Universities, the refundable security deposit is Rs. 30,000.

Candidates belonging to SC/SCA/ST and Converts to Christianity from Scheduled Caste (SCC) categories may be exempted from the security deposit if their annual income is below Rs. 2.5 lakh, as specified in the counselling instructions.

Security Deposit for Management Quota

For Management Quota, including Minority/NRI category seats in Self-Financing Medical/Dental Colleges and State Private Universities, the refundable security deposit is Rs. 1,00,000.

The same specified income-based exemption applies to eligible SC/SCA/ST and SCC candidates with annual income below Rs. 2.5 lakh.

Choice Filling and Locking Rules

Candidates are advised to read the prospectus carefully before filling their choices. Candidates can edit their choices any number of times before locking.

Once the choices are locked, they cannot be edited. If a candidate does not manually lock the choices by 19 August 2026 at 5:00 PM, the choices will be automatically locked.

Candidates should therefore carefully verify the college and course preference order before final locking.

The Selection Committee has also stated that a request for changing the course or college after final locking will not be permitted.

Tamil Nadu NEET UG 2026 Seat Allotment and Joining

Seat allotment will be processed on 20 August 2026, and the Round-I allotment result will be published on 21 August 2026.

Candidates who receive an allotment must download their Provisional Allotment Order between 22 August and 28 August 2026, up to 12:00 Noon.Candidates must report to their allotted college between 23 August and 28 August 2026, up to 5:00 PM, along with the required original certificates.Certificate verification will be conducted at the selected/allotted college.

Documents Required at the Time of Joining

Candidates reporting to the allotted institution must produce their original certificates in person, along with scanned copies of the original certificates for verification.

Candidates must also submit the required self-declaration form at the time of reporting. The Selection Committee has warned that admission may be cancelled if suppression of facts or misrepresentation is discovered at any stage.

Failure to report to the allotted institution within the prescribed date and time can result in cancellation of the candidate's selection/admission without further notice.

Important Instructions for Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026

Candidates should keep the following points in mind:

  • Do not share your Login ID, password or OTP with anyone.
  • Check the available seat matrix before filling choices.
  • Carefully arrange choices according to preference.
  • Verify choices before final locking.
  • Keep sufficient funds available for payment of tuition fees where applicable.
  • Download the provisional allotment order within the specified period.
  • Report to the allotted college within the prescribed deadline.
  • Carry all required original certificates for verification.
  • Regularly check the official counselling website for updates.
