The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Telangana has modified the MBBS seat matrix for the academic year 2026-27 following the revised intake notified by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
According to the university notification dated September 11, 2026, the NMC, Government of India, notified the MBBS seat matrix on September 10, 2026 under Ref. No. U-15029/09/2025-UGMEB (e-8348349).
As per the NMC-approved seat matrix, TRR Institute of Medical Sciences has been sanctioned a total of 150 MBBS seats, instead of the 200 seats considered in the earlier university seat matrix.
Following the revised NMC approval, KNRUHS has reduced the total MBBS intake at TRR Institute of Medical Sciences from 200 to 150 seats.
This represents a reduction of 50 MBBS seats overall.
The university has clarified that the reduction will be apportioned equally between the Competent Authority Quota (CQ) and Management Quota (MQ), resulting in a reduction of 25 seats under each quota.
| Particular | Earlier Intake | Revised Intake | Reduction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total MBBS Seats | 200 | 150 | 50 |
| Management Quota (MQ) | 100 | 75 | 25 |
| Competent Authority Quota (CQ) | 100* | 75 | 25 |
*The CQ figure is derived from the corresponding 25-seat reduction stated in the university notification.
The university has specifically modified the original MBBS seat matrix issued for the First Phase of Management Quota (MQ) counselling.
Under the revised matrix, the MBBS seats of TRR Institute of Medical Sciences under Management Quota have been reduced from:
100 seats to 75 seats
The revised MQ seat matrix will apply to the respective counselling phase for MBBS admission during the 2026-27 academic session.
KNRUHS has also prepared the Competent Authority Quota (CQ) seat matrix for the Second Phase of Counselling based on the revised total intake of 150 MBBS seats notified by the NMC.
Accordingly, the revised CQ seat matrix will reflect the reduced intake at TRR Institute of Medical Sciences.
Candidates participating in the second phase of CQ counselling should therefore check the latest seat matrix before exercising their web options.
KNRUHS has stated that the revised seat matrix displayed on the university website on September 11, 2026 will be applicable to the respective phases of counselling for admission to MBBS courses under both Management Quota and Competent Authority Quota. Candidates should rely on the revised seat matrix rather than the earlier intake figures.
