The Directorate of Medical Education, Government of West Bengal, has issued an urgent notice regarding the WB NEET UG Medical and Dental Counselling 2026 for candidates who registered under the NRI category during Round 1.
As per the notice dated August 27, 2026, some candidates registered themselves as NRI candidates during the Round 1 online registration process but did not fill their choices as NRI candidates. To address this inadvertent mistake, the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) has provided a facility for such candidates to request initialization of their previously submitted registration details.
Candidates who registered as NRI candidates in Round 1 but did not fill their choices under the NRI category can submit a request to the Director of Medical Education, Swasthya Bhavan.
The request must be submitted through email at wbnricounseling2025@gmail.com. The request will be accepted only if it is sent from the designated email ID mentioned during the NEET examination process.
Candidates are required to submit the request letter in signed PDF format. The purpose of the request is to allow the candidate's previously submitted registration details to be initialized so that the candidate can freshly submit the required details.
After initialization of the registration details, eligible candidates will be required to complete the applicable fresh processes. These may include:
Candidates should carefully follow the instructions issued by the West Bengal counselling authority while submitting their request and completing the subsequent process.
The notice makes it clear that the request facility will be available only during the dates of the Round 1 admission process of WB NEET UG Medical and Dental Counselling 2026 in which the inadvertent mistake was made by the candidate.
Candidates who are eligible for this correction facility should therefore submit their request within the prescribed Round 1 admission process period.
The West Bengal Directorate of Medical Education has specifically clarified that this facility will not be available during the Stray Vacancy Round or any subsequent round of counselling, if conducted.
