he Directorate of Medical Education, Government of West Bengal has issued a detailed notice regarding the admission process for WB PG Dental 2026. The notice, bearing Memo No. HFW-23099/320/2026/M/2314 dated September 7, 2026, lays down important instructions for candidates allotted seats in Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and the Online Stray Vacancy Round.
The instructions cover the procedure for downloading allotment letters, reporting to allotted colleges, document verification, payment of admission fees, submission of bonds, participation in subsequent rounds and seat surrender.
The official WBMCC portal currently lists the WB MDS 2026 Admission Notice and Round 1 counselling information.
After publication of the provisional allotment result for a particular counselling round, successful candidates can generate their individual allotment letter by logging into the counselling website.
Candidates who wish to take admission must report to their allotted college within the schedule prescribed for that particular round, as per server time.
Candidates must carry all required original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies. They must additionally carry:
Candidates must also submit an undertaking confirming that they are not presently admitted anywhere through AIQ or State Quota counselling conducted in 2026 or earlier.
The admitting college is required to retain certain original documents and provide the candidate with a receipt for the documents deposited.

The notice clarifies that caste certificates and ID cards need not be retained by the admitting institute.
Candidates must pay the applicable admission fee to the allotted college through the prescribed payment method.
If a candidate is subsequently upgraded to another college in Round 2 or Round 3, the fee paid at the previous college is to be returned to the candidate, subject to the applicable process.
The previous college must also return the candidate's original documents and issue a server-generated relieving letter before the candidate joins the newly allotted college.
The notice specifies the following bond requirements:
Candidates admitted to Government Colleges in West Bengal for Degree seats are required to submit a INR 5 lakh discontinuation bond.
The bond is to be notarized on non-judicial stamp paper of the prescribed value, with the required supporting format.
Candidates admitted to private colleges, trust colleges or central institutes must submit the bond or bank guarantee as required by the concerned institution.
Candidates admitted in Round 1 can choose whether they want to participate in Round 2 and/or Round 3.
Candidates wishing to participate must submit their willingness online during the admission process at the allotted college.
Such candidates are required to pay the admission fee at the allotted college. The applicable course fee must be submitted within the prescribed admission process, latest as required during Round 3.
The option to participate in subsequent rounds is available to all candidates allotted seats in Round 1, subject to the counselling rules.
If a candidate admitted in Round 1 receives a new college allotment in a subsequent round, the earlier Round 1 seat is automatically cancelled.

The candidate cannot retain the earlier Round 1 seat after receiving a fresh allotment.
Candidates who do not report for admission after receiving a Round 1 allotment will be treated as non-reported candidates for Round 1.
Such candidates can participate in fresh direct choice filling in Round 2.
Candidates who were not allotted any seat in Round 1 can also participate in fresh choice filling for Round 2.
Candidates who participate in a subsequent round and submit fresh choices but do not receive a new allotment will retain their Round 1 admitted seat.
Similarly, candidates who do not submit willingness for subsequent rounds and do not fill fresh choices will continue with their Round 1 admitted seat.
However, candidates who surrender their seat after admission will be removed from the counselling process for subsequent rounds.
WBMCC has reiterated that successful document verification during the pro-choice filling stage does not eliminate the requirement for final physical verification.
The allotted college will conduct another round of physical verification of original documents during the admission process.
Candidates must therefore carry all original certificates and documents when reporting for admission.
Candidates applying under SC, ST, OBC or EWS categories may be allotted an Unreserved seat if they have secured the applicable Unreserved cutoff in NEET PG Dental 2026.
If such a candidate cannot produce the required caste certificate, the college may edit the candidate's category to Unreserved, allowing the candidate to participate in subsequent upgradation rounds as an Unreserved candidate, subject to eligibility.
If a candidate is allotted a reserved-category seat but fails to produce the valid certificate, the seat may be cancelled through the admission software.
Where the candidate meets the Unreserved cutoff, participation in subsequent rounds may continue under the Unreserved category. If the candidate does not meet the Unreserved cutoff, the candidate will be removed from the counselling process.
Similar provisions apply to PwD candidates.
If a PwD candidate is allotted a non-PwD seat and cannot produce the required PwD certificate from NRS Medical College, Kolkata, or an MCC-authorised centre, the candidate may be admitted after being treated as a non-PwD candidate, subject to eligibility.
If a candidate is allotted a PwD seat but fails to produce the required valid certificate, the candidature may be changed to non-PwD and the reserved seat cancelled through the admission software.
Candidates who do not meet the applicable non-PwD cutoff will not be permitted to continue in counselling.
All admissions must be completed through the NIC (National Informatics Centre) server provided to the concerned colleges by the counselling committee.
Candidates must ensure that they receive a server-generated admission or cancellation letter, as applicable.
Admissions not secured through the prescribed NIC server within the specified schedule may not be considered valid, and the seat may be carried forward as a vacant seat for a subsequent round.
Candidates who are not satisfied with their allotted seat after admission can surrender or resign by personally appearing before the concerned college authority.
However, seat surrender is permitted only according to the seat surrender schedule published on the counselling website and is allowed only up to the prescribed stage, as specified in the notice.
The surrender process must also be recorded through the NIC server. Otherwise, the seat may not appear as vacant in the subsequent counselling round.
