West Bengal NEET MDS Counselling 2026: State Quota and Private Management Quota Admission Guidelines Released

The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal has issued the Notice cum Information Bulletin for West Bengal NEET MDS State Quota and Private Management Quota Counselling 2026. The notice, dated August 21, 2026, provides important eligibility, reservation and merit-related guidelines for admission to MDS courses in affiliated institutes of the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS).

Admission to the West Bengal NEET MDS State Quota and Private Management Quota seats will be conducted on the basis of the inter-se merit lists of eligible candidates who have appeared for and qualified in NEET MDS 2026, conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE/NBEMS).

Candidates must fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions to participate in the counselling process. The merit lists will consider different candidate categories, including Unreserved (UR), Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD), along with candidates under Open, In-Service and Other Service categories.

West Bengal NEET MDS Counselling 2026: 40% State Quota Seats Reserved for In-Service Candidates

As per the order of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, 40% of the State Quota degree seats will be reserved for in-service teachers and Dental Officers of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal under the WBDS/WBDES category.

The counselling bulletin also provides provisions for filling vacant postgraduate degree seats. If candidates from the open category are unavailable, vacant seats arising from the open quota may be filled by eligible in-service candidates. Similarly, vacant seats under the in-service category may be considered for eligible open-category candidates through the open counselling process, based on overall merit.

NEET MDS 2026 Cut-Off Eligibility

Candidates seeking admission to MDS courses through West Bengal NEET MDS Counselling 2026 must meet the prescribed NEET MDS qualifying percentile.

For Unreserved (UR) and EWS candidates, the minimum qualifying requirement is 50th percentile in NEET MDS 2026, unless the cut-off is reduced by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) or the Government of India during the counselling process.

For candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories, the minimum qualifying requirement is 40th percentile.

For benchmark PwD candidates, the minimum qualifying requirement is 45th percentile for UR/EWS candidates and 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC candidates, subject to any subsequent reduction in the NEET MDS cut-off announced by NBEMS or the Government of India.

Who Can Participate in West Bengal NEET MDS Counselling 2026?

Candidates who have appeared for and qualified in NEET MDS 2026 and satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed for West Bengal counselling can participate in the admission process.

Candidates should carefully check the detailed information bulletin for category requirements, applicable reservation provisions, service status, documentation and other conditions before applying for counselling.The counselling will cover eligible candidates seeking admission under the State Quota and Private Management Quota in affiliated institutions of WBUHS.
