West Bengal NEET PG 2026: PwD Medical Assessment Boards to Verify Eligibility for AIQ and State Quota Counselling

The Directorate of Medical Education, Government of West Bengal, has issued instructions for arranging Primary and Appellate Medical Assessment Boards for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates appearing in NEET PG Medical Counselling 2026. The orders were issued on September 30, 2026, in connection with the verification and certification of candidates claiming eligibility under the 21% benchmark disability criteria as applicable under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The process will apply to PwD candidates participating in both All India Quota (AIQ) and West Bengal State Quota NEET PG 2026 counselling. The medical assessment and certification will be carried out according to the prescribed rules of the All India counselling authority.

MCC NEET PG 2026 PwD Assessment Schedule

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), through its notice dated September 28, 2026, has informed candidates that the PwD portal for Round 1 of PG Counselling 2026 will become active from October 1, 2026.

According to the MCC schedule, the Primary Medical Assessment Board will remain open from October 1, 2026, until 5:00 PM on October 9, 2026. PwD candidates are required to visit the designated Primary Medical Assessment Centre within the prescribed period.

The Appellate Medical Assessment Board will conduct medical assessments from 10:00 AM on October 5, 2026, until 5:00 PM on October 12, 2026. Candidates seeking reassessment through the appeal process are advised to follow the procedure prescribed in the NEET PG 2026 Information Bulletin.

West Bengal Primary Medical Assessment Board

As per Memo No. HFW-23099/320/2026/M/2621, dated September 30, 2026, the authority of NRS Medical College, Kolkata, has been instructed to arrange the Primary Medical Assessment Board for verification and certification of PwD candidates participating in NEET PG counselling.

The West Bengal Directorate of Medical Education has prescribed the following schedule for the primary assessment:

October 1, 2026 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
October 3, 2026 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
October 5 to October 9, 2026 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM

The assessment will be conducted in accordance with the notice issued by the MCC, New Delhi, on September 28, 2026, bearing reference number U-12021/09/2026-MEC.

The authority has also stated that the required PwD certificate is to be issued in online mode only, as per the prescribed rules of the All India counselling authority.

Appellate Medical Board at IPGME&R Kolkata

A separate order, Memo No. HFW-23099/320/2026/M/2622, dated September 30, 2026, directs IPGME&R, Kolkata, to arrange the Appellate Medical Board for verification and certification of PwD candidates.

The appellate assessment schedule is as follows:

October 5 to October 9, 2026 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
October 10, 2026 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
October 12, 2026 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

The medical board will continue to attend to candidates until the last candidate scheduled for the respective session has been served.

The West Bengal Directorate of Medical Education has instructed that the assessment certificate must be issued online only, in accordance with the rules prescribed by the All India counselling authority.

Faculty Assigned to Appellate Medical Board

The West Bengal government order has also instructed Dr. Shuvra Neel Baul, Associate Professor, currently posted in the Department of Hematology at NRS Medical College & Hospital, to attend the Appellate Medical Board at IPGME&R, Kolkata.

The faculty member has been directed to attend the medical board during the notified dates and timings until the last candidate is served.

PwD Candidates Must Complete Assessment Within Schedule

PwD candidates participating in NEET PG 2026 AIQ or West Bengal State Quota counselling should ensure that their medical assessment is completed within the prescribed schedule. Candidates requiring primary assessment should approach the designated assessment centre during the primary assessment window, while candidates seeking reassessment through the appellate mechanism should follow the applicable appeal procedure.
