AICTE Saksham Scholarship

The Saksham Scholarship Scheme is a flagship initiative of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to provide financial assistance to specially abled students pursuing a Technical Degree or Diploma in AICTE-approved institutions.
Its goal is to empower students with disabilities by removing financial barriers and ensuring equal access to technical education.

To qualify for the Saksham Scholarship, the student must meet these conditions:

Disability Requirement:

  • The student must have a disability of 40% or more, certified by a competent medical authority.

Course & Institution:

  • Must be enrolled in a technical degree course in an AICTE-approved institution.

  • Should be studying in 1st year (regular entry) or 2nd year (lateral entry).

Family Income:

  • Annual family income should be 8 lakh or less from all sources.

Admission Requirement:

  • Admission must be through regular/recognised admission channels.

  • Students admitted through the management quota are not eligible.

Nationality:

  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen.

Annual Scholarship Amount:

  • 50,000 per year (lump sum).

Duration:

  • Up to 4 years for full degree programmes.

  • Up to 3 years for students admitted through lateral entry.

What the Amount Can Be Used For:

  • College/tuition fees

  • Books and stationery

  • Equipment/tools required for the course

  • Laptop/desktop

  • Software, study materials, and assistive devices

What Is Not Covered:

  • Hostel fees

  • Medical expenses

  • Transportation costs

  • Any non-academic expenses

Students must upload scanned copies of the following:

  • Passport-size photograph

  • Student’s signature

  • Disability certificate (40% or more) issued by a medical authority

  • Class 10 marksheet (and Class 12 for degree courses)

  • Admission letter/proof of admission

  • Fee receipt for the current academic year

  • Aadhaar card

  • Aadhaar-linked bank passbook in the student’s name

  • Family income certificate (issued by the competent authority)

  • Caste certificate (if applicable: SC/ST/OBC)

  • A bona fide certificate from the institution

  • Declaration by parents/guardian (AICTE prescribed format)

Step 1: Visit the NSP Portal

Go to the official website: National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – scholarships.gov.in


Step 2: New Registration

  1. Click “New Registration” on the homepage.

  2. Read the Guidelines for Registration carefully.

  3. Tick the undertaking/consent box.

  4. Click Continue.


Step 3: Fill the Registration Form

Enter the following details:

  • Login
  • Student Name (as per Aadhaar)  

  • Mobile Number

  • Email ID

  • Gender

  • Bank Account Number & IFSC

  • Aadhaar Number

 An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification.

After verification, your NSP Application ID will be generated.
(This ID is very important for login.)


Step 4: Login to NSP

  1. Go to Student Login → Select Academic Year.

  2. Enter:

    • Application ID

    • Password

    • Captcha

  3. Click Login.

On first login, you must change your password.


Step 5: Fill the Scholarship Application Form

Complete the form by entering:

  •  Personal Details
  • Religion

  • Category (SC/ST/OBC/General/Minority)

  • Annual Family Income

  • Aadhaar / EID details

 Academic Details

  • Current Course

  • Previous Qualification

  • Roll Number

  • Institution details (Select from dropdown)

 Bank Account Details

  • Your name must match bank account name

  • Provide correct IFSC & account number


Step 6: Upload Required Documents

Documents vary by scholarship but usually include:

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Income Certificate

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)

  • Bonafide Certificate

  • Marksheet (previous exam)

  • Bank passbook copy

  • Fee Receipt / Admission proof

  • Domicile Certificate

  • Disability Certificate (if applicable)

Yes. All payments are transferred directly to the student's bank account through the DBT system.
