AICTE–SSS (TD)

The Swanath Scholarship Scheme is an AICTE initiative to support students who have faced severe family hardships, such as the loss of parents or abandonment.
It aims to help such students continue their technical diploma education without financial barriers in AICTE-approved institutions.

This scheme is specially designed for:

  • Orphans

  • Students with a single mother/father (widow parent)

  • Students whose parents died due to COVID-19

  • Students whose parents are in armed forces and died on duty (as per scheme guidelines)

You must meet all of the following eligibility conditions:

 Course Requirement

  • Must be enrolled in a Technical Diploma programme.

  • Must be studying in 1st year (regular entry) or 2nd year (lateral entry).

  • The institute must be AICTE-approved.

Family Condition (Any ONE of the following)

  1. Orphan (no parents alive).

  2. Single Parent (either mother or father is deceased).

  3. Parents died due to COVID-19.

  4. Children of Armed Forces martyrs (killed in action).

  5. Abandoned children (with proper documentation as per social department norms).

Family Income

  • No specific income limit is mentioned for this scheme.

  • But documentary proof of orphan/single-parent status is mandatory.

Other Conditions

  • Must be an Indian citizen.

  • Admission should be through a regular admission process.

  • Students admitted through the management quota are not eligible.

  • Students should not be taking any other central government-funded scholarship at the same time.

Scholarship Amount

  • 50,000 per year (lump sum).

Duration

  • Up to 3 years for full diploma programme (1st-year entry).

  • Up to 2 years for students admitted via lateral entry.

What this scholarship covers

You may use the scholarship amount for:

  • Tuition/college fees

  • Books and academic materials

  • Laptop/desktop

  • Stationery

  • Equipment needed for the diploma course

  • Any academic expenses

What is not covered

  • Hostel fees

  • Medical expenses

  • Transportation or personal expenses

  • Any non-academic charges

You must upload valid scanned documents (clear & readable):

  • Passport-size photograph

  • Student signature

  • Death certificate of parent(s) (if orphan or single-parent)

  • COVID-19 death certificate (if applicable)

  • Certificate of martyrdom or armed forces casualty (if applicable)

  • Proof of abandonment (certificate issued by government/child welfare authority)

  • Class 10 marksheet (and Class 12 if applicable for lateral entry)

  • Admission letter/proof of admission in diploma course

  • Fee receipt for the current academic year

  • Aadhaar card

  • Aadhaar-linked bank passbook (in the student’s name)

  • A bona fide certificate from an institution

  • Caste certificate (if applicable)

  • Declaration by guardian/authorised officer (as per AICTE format)

Step 1: Visit the NSP Portal

Go to the official website: National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – scholarships.gov.in


Step 2: New Registration

  1. Click “New Registration” on the homepage.

  2. Read the Guidelines for Registration carefully.

  3. Tick the undertaking/consent box.

  4. Click Continue.


Step 3: Fill the Registration Form

Enter the following details:

  • Login
  • Student Name (as per Aadhaar)  

  • Mobile Number

  • Email ID

  • Gender

  • Bank Account Number & IFSC

  • Aadhaar Number

 An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification.

After verification, your NSP Application ID will be generated.
(This ID is very important for login.)


Step 4: Login to NSP

  1. Go to Student Login → Select Academic Year.

  2. Enter:

    • Application ID

    • Password

    • Captcha

  3. Click Login.

On first login, you must change your password.


Step 5: Fill the Scholarship Application Form

Complete the form by entering:

  •  Personal Details
  • Religion

  • Category (SC/ST/OBC/General/Minority)

  • Annual Family Income

  • Aadhaar / EID details

 Academic Details

  • Current Course

  • Previous Qualification

  • Roll Number

  • Institution details (Select from dropdown)

 Bank Account Details

  • Your name must match bank account name

  • Provide correct IFSC & account number


Step 6: Upload Required Documents

Documents vary by scholarship but usually include:

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Income Certificate

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)

  • Bonafide Certificate

  • Marksheet (previous exam)

  • Bank passbook copy

  • Fee Receipt / Admission proof

  • Domicile Certificate

  • Disability Certificate (if applicable)

No. The scholarship is based on eligibility and verification, not on an entrance exam.

No. You cannot receive two major scholarships for the same course.

Usually September to December every year (varies by AICTE schedule).
