The BPL Scholarship Scheme is a financial assistance program launched by the Chhattisgarh Higher Education Department.
It is designed to support economically weaker students belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families so they can continue their Undergraduate (UG) or Postgraduate (PG) studies in government colleges of Chhattisgarh.
The scheme helps reduce financial burden by providing monthly scholarship amounts directly to students through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
To apply for the BPL Scholarship in Chhattisgarh, a student must:
Be a permanent resident of Chhattisgarh.
Belong to a BPL (Below Poverty Line) family and possess a valid BPL card.
Be studying in a government college under the Higher Education Department.
Be enrolled in UG or PG courses.
Have passed the previous year’s exam in the first attempt.
Maintain the required attendance percentage set by the college.
Not be receiving any other major state or central government scholarship during the same academic year.
The scholarship is given on a monthly basis for the academic year.

Total yearly benefit: 3,000
500 per month
Paid for approximately 10 months
Total yearly benefit: 5,000
The amount is sent directly to the student's bank account through DBT.
Students must submit the following documents (self-attested):
BPL Card (mandatory)
Chhattisgarh domicile certificate
Aadhaar card
Bank passbook copy (Aadhaar-linked account)
10th marksheet
Previous exam marksheet (12th for UG, graduation for PG)
College admission receipt
Passport-size photograph
Caste certificate (if required by institution)
Income certificate (only if the college asks)
Register on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) by creating a new student account.
Login and select the scheme named BPL Scholarship for College Students (Chhattisgarh).
Fill the application form with personal, academic, and bank details.
Upload scanned documents such as BPL card, Aadhaar, marksheets, bank passbook, etc.
Submit the application online.
Take a printout of the submitted form if the college asks for physical submission.
The application will be verified by the college, and then by the state nodal officer.
Once approved, the scholarship amount is credited to the student’s bank account.
