The scheme aims to promote quality higher education among Scheduled Caste (SC) students by providing full financial support for studies after Class 12.
The scholarship is applicable only in notified Top-Class Institutions across India and continues until the completion of the course, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic performance.

  • Must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.

  • Annual family income ≤ 8 lakh from all sources.

  • Must have secured admission in a full-time course in a notified institution as per their general admission criteria.

  • Selection is limited to the number of slots allocated to each institution.

  • If eligible students exceed available slots, selection is based on inter-se merit of the entrance exam.

  • Fresh scholarship only for 1st-year students.

  • 30% seats reserved for SC girls.

  • Not more than two siblings from the same family can avail benefits.

  • Scholarship discontinued if the student fails a year (restored once promoted).

  • Changing institution after selection leads to loss of scholarship.

1. Full Tuition Fee & Non-Refundable Charges

  • Paid directly to students who must deposit it to the institute.

  • Private institutions fee capped at 2 lakh per year.

2. Academic Allowance

  • 86,000 in 1st year.

  • 41,000 in subsequent years.
    This covers:

  • Living expenses

  • Books & stationery

  • Computer/laptop with accessories

  • Printer/UPS, etc.

3. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)

All payments made directly to the student's bank account.

Students must upload the following on the National Scholarship Portal:

  • SC caste certificate

  • Income certificate

    • For employed parents: from employer

    • For self-employed parents: from Tehsildar or above

  • Admission rank (Entrance exam rank)

  • Admission/fee details

  • Bank account details

  • Affidavit confirming not more than two siblings are availing the scheme

Step 1: Visit the NSP Portal

Go to the official website: National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – scholarships.gov.in


Step 2: New Registration

  1. Click “New Registration” on the homepage.

  2. Read the Guidelines for Registration carefully.

  3. Tick the undertaking/consent box.

  4. Click Continue.


Step 3: Fill the Registration Form

Enter the following details:

  • Login
  • Student Name (as per Aadhaar)  

  • Mobile Number

  • Email ID

  • Gender

  • Bank Account Number & IFSC

  • Aadhaar Number

 An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification.

After verification, your NSP Application ID will be generated.
(This ID is very important for login.)


Step 4: Login to NSP

  1. Go to Student Login → Select Academic Year.

  2. Enter:

    • Application ID

    • Password

    • Captcha

  3. Click Login.

On first login, you must change your password.


Step 5: Fill the Scholarship Application Form

Complete the form by entering:

  •  Personal Details
  • Religion

  • Category (SC/ST/OBC/General/Minority)

  • Annual Family Income

  • Aadhaar / EID details

 Academic Details

  • Current Course

  • Previous Qualification

  • Roll Number

  • Institution details (Select from dropdown)

 Bank Account Details

  • Your name must match bank account name

  • Provide correct IFSC & account number


Step 6: Upload Required Documents

Documents vary by scholarship but usually include:

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Income Certificate

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)

  • Bonafide Certificate

  • Marksheet (previous exam)

  • Bank passbook copy

  • Fee Receipt / Admission proof

  • Domicile Certificate

  • Disability Certificate (if applicable)
