Ishan Uday NER Scholarship

The Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme (IUSSN) provides financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students from the North Eastern Region (NER) of India. The scheme encourages higher education by supporting students in Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing, Allied Science, Agriculture, Architecture, Law, and Hospitality streams. The scholarship covers tuition fees and academic resources, helping students pursue quality education without financial barriers.

  • 1. Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent from a school located within the North Eastern Region (NER) through any recognized board (CBSE/ICSE/State Boards/NIOS).

  • 2. Course Eligibility

  • Must be enrolled in the 1st year of a regular, full-time Undergraduate (UG) degree program recognized by the UGC.

  • Applicable for all UG programs in:

    • Arts & Humanities

    • Social Sciences

    • Science & Technology

    • Engineering

    • Medical & Paramedical

    • Agriculture & Forestry

    • Commerce & Management

    • Law and other approved UG degrees

  • Integrated and dual degree programs are eligible for the UG component only.

  • 3. Institution Eligibility

  • Admission must be in a UGC-recognized:

    • University/College under UGC Act 1956 (2f)

    • NAAC-accredited institution

    • Deemed University

    • State/Central Government–funded institution

    • Institution of National Importance

  • 4. Domicile Requirement

  • The student must hold a valid domicile certificate of any North-Eastern state (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim).

  • 5. Income Limit

  • Annual family income must be less than 4.5 Lakhs.

  • 6. Mode of Admission

  • Only regular/full-time students are eligible.

  • Students admitted through management quota are NOT eligible.

  • 7. Degree Condition

  • Applicable only for the first UG degree.

  • Students who already hold any UG degree are not eligible.

  • 8. Single Scholarship Rule

  • A student can receive only one scholarship at a time.
    If already receiving another scholarship, they must choose only one.

  • Students enrolled in distance, private, part-time, or correspondence mode are not eligible.

  • Financial support for tuition fees.

  • Assistance for academic resources and study materials.

  • Encourages students to complete their UG education without financial constraints.

  • Duly filled IUSSN application form

  • Proof of NER residence

  • Admission certificate for the UG course

  • Identity proof (Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID)

  • Bank account details

  • Income certificate (if applicable)

  • Caste certificate (if applicable)

Step 1: Visit the NSP Portal

Go to the official website: National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – scholarships.gov.in


Step 2: New Registration

  1. Click “New Registration” on the homepage.

  2. Read the Guidelines for Registration carefully.

  3. Tick the undertaking/consent box.

  4. Click Continue.


Step 3: Fill the Registration Form

Enter the following details:

  • Login
  • Student Name (as per Aadhaar)  

  • Mobile Number

  • Email ID

  • Gender

  • Bank Account Number & IFSC

  • Aadhaar Number

 An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification.

After verification, your NSP Application ID will be generated.
(This ID is very important for login.)


Step 4: Login to NSP

  1. Go to Student Login → Select Academic Year.

  2. Enter:

    • Application ID

    • Password

    • Captcha

  3. Click Login.

On first login, you must change your password.


Step 5: Fill the Scholarship Application Form

Complete the form by entering:

  •  Personal Details
  • Religion

  • Category (SC/ST/OBC/General/Minority)

  • Annual Family Income

  • Aadhaar / EID details

 Academic Details

  • Current Course

  • Previous Qualification

  • Roll Number

  • Institution details (Select from dropdown)

 Bank Account Details

  • Your name must match bank account name

  • Provide correct IFSC & account number


Step 6: Upload Required Documents

Documents vary by scholarship but usually include:

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Income Certificate

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)

  • Bonafide Certificate

  • Marksheet (previous exam)

  • Bank passbook copy

  • Fee Receipt / Admission proof

  • Domicile Certificate

  • Disability Certificate (if applicable)
