The J. N. Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship is a prestigious financial assistance program that supports Indian students pursuing postgraduate, PhD, and post-doctoral studies abroad, including advanced fields of Agriculture and Allied Sciences. Established to empower talented scholars, the scholarship provides loan scholarships with optional gift awards based on merit. Students can pursue specialized courses such as Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Biotechnology, Food Technology, and Environmental Sciences at top global universities. The scheme aims to help aspiring agricultural professionals gain world-class education, engage in impactful research, and contribute to India’s agricultural development.
The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
Eligible for:
Postgraduate (PG) Programs – M.Sc Agriculture, M.Tech Agriculture Engineering, etc.
PhD / Doctoral Programs in Agriculture & Allied Sciences
Post-Doctoral Research
Not eligible for:
Undergraduate (UG) courses
Diplomas that require only 10+2
Part-time, online, or distance-learning programs
Must have a consistently good academic record in previous degrees (usually 60%+ or equivalent).
Strong academic profile, publications, or research experience adds advantage.
Admission offer from a recognized foreign university is required.

Typically not above 45 years for PG/PhD applicants.
Moderate financial background preferred, but selection is merit-based, not fully income-based.
Valid GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS scores as per university requirements.
Must attend an interview conducted by the J. N. Tata Endowment panel.
Must secure a study loan from a bank if required (separate from scholarship).
Loan scholarship of upto INR 10 lakhs
The entire selection process has been divided into four phases. It may please be noted that the decision of the management will be final, at each stage of the selection process, and no queries in this regard will be entertained.
If the information provided by a candidate is either incomplete or false, the application will not be processed further, and the Endowment will not entertain any queries in this regard.
Phase 1 – ends on 7th March 2025, the final date of submission of the application
Phase 2 –Aptitude Test
