National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe Students (NFST) – Overview

The NFST is a Central Government scheme launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to financially support students belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category pursuing higher education in India. The scheme includes both scholarships for undergraduate/postgraduate professional courses and fellowships for M.Phil and Ph.D programs. The aim is to increase participation of ST students in higher education, especially in professional studies and research.

1. Tuition & Admission Fees: Full coverage for Govt. institutions;ceiling of Rs.2.50 lakhs per annum for private institutions as per guidelines.
2. Books & Stationery: Rs.5000/- per annum without bills/ voucher
3. Stipend: Rs.3000/-per month
4. Computer & Accessorie: Rs.45000/- (One-time assistance during the course tenure)

Step 1: Visit the NSP Portal

Go to the official website: National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – scholarships.gov.in


Step 2: New Registration

  1. Click “New Registration” on the homepage.

  2. Read the Guidelines for Registration carefully.

  3. Tick the undertaking/consent box.

  4. Click Continue.

  5. Step 3: Fill the Registration Form

  6. Enter the following details:

  8. Student Name (as per Aadhaar)  

  9. Mobile Number

  10. Email ID

  11. Gender

  12. Bank Account Number & IFSC

  13. Aadhaar Number

  14.  An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification.

    After verification, your NSP Application ID will be generated.
    (This ID is very important for login.)


    Step 4: Login to NSP

  15. Go to Student Login → Select Academic Year.

  16. Enter:

    • Application ID

    • Password

    • Captcha

  17. Click Login.

  18. On first login, you must change your password.


    Step 5: Fill the Scholarship Application Form

    Complete the form by entering:
