PMS For Arunachal Pradesh for ST

The Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for ST Students under the Umbrella Scheme for Education of Scheduled Tribe Children is a centrally sponsored scholarship implemented jointly by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The aim of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to students belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community to pursue education beyond Class 10.
This includes:

  • Class 11 & 12

  • Undergraduate courses

  • Postgraduate courses

  • Diploma and Professional Courses

  • Technical, Medical, Engineering, and other higher education programs

The objective is to reduce dropout rates, support economically weaker ST students, and promote access to quality higher education.
The scholarship is disbursed directly into the student’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

To be eligible for the PMS ST Scholarship in Arunachal Pradesh, the applicant must:

  • Be a permanent resident of Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category with a valid ST certificate.

  • Have passed Class 10 and taken admission in Class 11 or above.

  • Be enrolled in a recognised school/college/university/technical institute.

  • Have an annual family income from all sources not exceeding 2,50,000.

  • Not receiving any other centrally funded scholarship for the same course.

  • Have passed the previous qualifying examination.

Note: Students studying through distance mode are also eligible, provided the institution is recognized.

The PMS ST scholarship provides financial assistance through maintenance allowance, fee reimbursement, and additional academic support.

A. Maintenance Allowance (Per Month)

Based on course category:

Group I (Professional & Technical Courses – Engineering, Medical, Law, Management, Architecture, etc.)

  • Hostellers: 1,200 per month

  • Day Scholars: 550 per month

Group II (Postgraduate Courses & Other Professional Courses – MA, MSc, MCom, etc.)

  • Hostellers: 820 per month

  • Day Scholars: 530 per month

Group III (General Undergraduate Courses – BA, BSc, BCom, etc.)

  • Hostellers: 570 per month

  • Day Scholars: 300 per month

Group IV (Class 11 & 12, ITI, Polytechnic, Vocational Courses)

  • Hostellers: 380 per month

  • Day Scholars: 230 per month


B. Additional Allowances

1. Reader Allowance (for Visually Impaired Students)

  • UG & PG: 240 per month

  • Professional Courses: 240 per month

2. Escort/Helper Allowance (for severely disabled students)

  • 160 per month

3. Transport Allowance (for day scholars with disabilities)

  • 160 per month

4. Study Tour Allowance

  • 1,600 per year

5. Thesis/Project Typing & Printing Allowance

  • Up to 1,600 per year


C. Reimbursement of Compulsory Fees

Covers all non-refundable fees charged by the institution, including:

  • Tuition fee

  • Library fee

  • Laboratory fee

  • Examination fee

  • Admission fee

  • Registration and enrollment fee

Actual reimbursement depends on receipts and course norms.

Students must upload the following documents (self-attested):

  • ST Caste Certificate (mandatory)

  • Arunachal Pradesh Domicile Certificate

  • Income Certificate (family income ≤ 2.5 lakh)

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Bank Passbook (Aadhaar-linked, in the student’s name)

  • Previous academic marksheets

  • Current year admission receipt

  • A bona fide certificate from the institution

  • Passport-size photograph

  • Hostel certificate (if applying as a hosteller)

  • Disability certificate (if claiming disability-related allowances)

Step 1: Registration on NSP

  • Go to the National Scholarship Portal Click Here

  • Select New Student Registration.

  • Enter details and complete registration with mobile/email verification.

Step 2: Login and Choose Scheme

  • Use your Application ID to log in Click Here

  • Select Umbrella Scheme – Post Matric Scholarship for ST Students, Arunachal Pradesh.

Step 3: Fill the Online Application Form

Enter information related to:

  • Personal details

  • Academic records

  • Institution information

  • Bank account details

  • Caste & income details

Step 4: Upload Documents

Scan and upload all required documents in the correct format.

Step 5: Final Submission

  • Review form thoroughly.

  • Submit the application online.

Step 6: Verification Process

Your application will be verified in two stages:

  1. Institute-level verification

  2. State Nodal Officer verification

Step 7: Scholarship Disbursement

After successful approval, the scholarship amount is transferred directly to the student’s bank account under DBT.
