The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for CAPFs & Assam Rifles is a central government initiative to support the higher education of dependent wards/widows of personnel from:
BSF (Border Security Force)
CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force)
CISF (Central Industrial Security Force)
ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police)
SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal)
NSG (National Security Guard)
AR (Assam Rifles)
The scheme focuses on providing financial assistance to pursue professional degree courses like Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Law, Management, etc.
It aims to honor the sacrifices of CAPFs & AR personnel by supporting the education of their children.
To apply for PMSS (CAPFs & Assam Rifles), applicants must meet the following:
Dependent wards/widows of:
CAPFs & Assam Rifles personnel who were martyred in action.
Personnel who died while on duty.
Personnel who were disabled/injured during service.
Serving/retired CAPFs & AR personnel.
(Priority is given in the above order.)
Must be pursuing a regular full-time professional degree.
Accepted courses include:
Engineering (B.E/B.Tech)
Medicine (MBBS/BDS)
BBA/BCA
B.Sc Nursing / B.Pharmacy
Hotel Management
LLB
Veterinary, Agriculture, Architecture
Other AICTE/UGC/MCI-approved degrees
Only regular courses are allowed.
Distance learning or part-time programmes are NOT eligible.
Minimum 60% marks in Class 12 / Diploma / Graduation (depending on course entry).
Must be in 1st year OR
In the 2nd year through lateral entry.
Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
30,000 per year for girls (?2500 per month)
36,000 per year for boys (?3000 per month)
Up to 5 years, depending on the course duration.
Based on passing each academic year with the minimum required marks.
Students must maintain regular attendance and discipline.
Scholarship is credited directly to the student’s bank account (DBT) yearly.
Encourages technical and professional education among wards of CAPFs & AR.
Prepare the following documents in scanned format:

Aadhaar card
Service certificate issued by the concerned CAPF/Assam Rifles unit
PPO / Death certificate (if applicable)
Certificate showing relationship with personnel (birth certificate or official document)
Medical disability certificate (if applicable)
Admission letter/proof of admission
Class 12 / Diploma / Graduation marksheet
Course fee receipt
A bona fide certificate from the institute
Bank passbook (student name, Aadhaar linked, IFSC, account number)
Domicile certificate (if required)
Caste certificate (if applicable)
Go to the official website: National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – scholarships.gov.in
Click “New Registration” on the homepage.
Read the Guidelines for Registration carefully.
Tick the undertaking/consent box.
Click Continue.
Enter the following details:
Student Name (as per Aadhaar)
Mobile Number
Email ID
Gender
Bank Account Number & IFSC
Aadhaar Number
An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification.
After verification, your NSP Application ID will be generated.
(This ID is very important for login.)
Go to Student Login → Select Academic Year.
