PMSS – CAPF & AR

The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for CAPFs & Assam Rifles is a central government initiative to support the higher education of dependent wards/widows of personnel from:

  • BSF (Border Security Force)

  • CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force)

  • CISF (Central Industrial Security Force)

  • ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police)

  • SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal)

  • NSG (National Security Guard)

  • AR (Assam Rifles)

The scheme focuses on providing financial assistance to pursue professional degree courses like Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Law, Management, etc.

It aims to honor the sacrifices of CAPFs & AR personnel by supporting the education of their children.

To apply for PMSS (CAPFs & Assam Rifles), applicants must meet the following:

Who Can Apply

Dependent wards/widows of:

  1. CAPFs & Assam Rifles personnel who were martyred in action.

  2. Personnel who died while on duty.

  3. Personnel who were disabled/injured during service.

  4. Serving/retired CAPFs & AR personnel.

(Priority is given in the above order.)

Academic Eligibility

  • Must be pursuing a regular full-time professional degree.

  • Accepted courses include:

    • Engineering (B.E/B.Tech)

    • Medicine (MBBS/BDS)

    • BBA/BCA

    • B.Sc Nursing / B.Pharmacy

    • Hotel Management

    • LLB

    • Veterinary, Agriculture, Architecture

    • Other AICTE/UGC/MCI-approved degrees

Course Type

  • Only regular courses are allowed.

  • Distance learning or part-time programmes are NOT eligible.

Minimum Marks

  • Minimum 60% marks in Class 12 / Diploma / Graduation (depending on course entry).

Year of Study

  • Must be in 1st year OR

  • In the 2nd year through lateral entry.

Age & Nationality

  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen.

Annual Scholarship Amount

  • 30,000 per year for girls (?2500 per month)

  • 36,000 per year for boys (?3000 per month)

Duration

  • Up to 5 years, depending on the course duration.

Renewal

  • Based on passing each academic year with the minimum required marks.

  • Students must maintain regular attendance and discipline.

Other Benefits

  • Scholarship is credited directly to the student’s bank account (DBT) yearly.

  • Encourages technical and professional education among wards of CAPFs & AR.

Prepare the following documents in scanned format:

  • Passport-size photograph

  • Student’s signature

  • Aadhaar card

  • Service certificate issued by the concerned CAPF/Assam Rifles unit

  • PPO / Death certificate (if applicable)

  • Certificate showing relationship with personnel (birth certificate or official document)

  • Medical disability certificate (if applicable)

  • Admission letter/proof of admission

  • Class 12 / Diploma / Graduation marksheet

  • Course fee receipt

  • A bona fide certificate from the institute

  • Bank passbook (student name, Aadhaar linked, IFSC, account number)

  • Domicile certificate (if required)

  • Caste certificate (if applicable)

Step 1: Visit the NSP Portal

Go to the official website: National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – scholarships.gov.in


Step 2: New Registration

  1. Click “New Registration” on the homepage.

  2. Read the Guidelines for Registration carefully.

  3. Tick the undertaking/consent box.

  4. Click Continue.


Step 3: Fill the Registration Form

Enter the following details:

  • Login
  • Student Name (as per Aadhaar)  

  • Mobile Number

  • Email ID

  • Gender

  • Bank Account Number & IFSC

  • Aadhaar Number

 An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification.

After verification, your NSP Application ID will be generated.
(This ID is very important for login.)


Step 4: Login to NSP

  1. Go to Student Login → Select Academic Year.

  2. Enter:

    • Application ID

    • Password

    • Captcha

  3. Click Login.

On first login, you must change your password.


Step 5: Fill the Scholarship Application Form

Complete the form by entering:

  •  Personal Details
  • Religion

  • Category (SC/ST/OBC/General/Minority)

  • Annual Family Income

  • Aadhaar / EID details

 Academic Details

  • Current Course

  • Previous Qualification

  • Roll Number

  • Institution details (Select from dropdown)

 Bank Account Details

  • Your name must match bank account name

  • Provide correct IFSC & account number


Step 6: Upload Required Documents

Documents vary by scholarship but usually include:

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Income Certificate

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)

  • Bonafide Certificate

  • Marksheet (previous exam)

  • Bank passbook copy

  • Fee Receipt / Admission proof

  • Domicile Certificate

  • Disability Certificate (if applicable)

FAQ

Only professional degree programs like: B.Tech / BE MBBS / BDS BCA / MCA BBA / MBA BSc Nursing B.Pharm LLB / BA LLB B.Ed. B.Arch Hotel Management Courses must be approved by AICTE, UGC, MCI/NMC, INC, PCI, etc.
