Assam PMS-OBC

The Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students is a welfare scheme implemented by the Government of Assam under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
The objective is to support Other Backward Class (OBC) students studying in Class 11 to Postgraduate levels, including technical, professional, and vocational courses.

The scheme aims to reduce financial barriers and ensure equitable access to higher education for economically weaker OBC students in Assam.
The scholarship amount is credited directly to the student's bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

To be eligible for the Post Matric OBC Scholarship (Assam), a student must:

  • Be a permanent resident of Assam.

  • Belong to the OBC category, with a valid OBC certificate.

  • Be studying in Class 11 and above (including UG, PG, Diploma, ITI, Polytechnic, Technical courses).

  • Have an annual family income not exceeding 1,00,000.

  • Be studying in a recognized institution (school/college/university/technical institute).

  • Not be receiving any other major government scholarship during the same academic year.

  • Must have passed the previous class/semester examination.

Maintenance Allowance (Per Month)

This varies by level of study:

Hostellers

  • Graduate & Postgraduate (General Courses): 400 per month

  • Graduate & Postgraduate (Professional Courses): 500 per month

  • Class 11 & 12: 260 per month

Day Scholars

  • Graduate & Postgraduate (General Courses): 210 per month

  • Graduate & Postgraduate (Professional Courses): 250 per month

  • Class 11 & 12: 160 per month


Additional Benefits (Ad Hoc Grant per Year)

All eligible students receive:

  • 750 per year for essential educational expenses
    (books, stationery, etc.)

Course Fee Reimbursement

For certain approved courses, compulsory non-refundable fees may also be reimbursed, subject to government norms.

Students must upload/submit the following documents:

  • OBC Certificate issued by the competent authority

  • Assam Domicile / Permanent Resident Certificate

  • Income Certificate (annual income ≤ Rs 1,00,000)

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Bank Account Passbook (student’s name, Aadhaar-linked)

  • Previous year’s marksheet / pass certificate

  • A bona fide certificate from the school/college

  • Admission receipt/fee receipt

  • Passport-size photograph

  • Hostel certificate (only for hostellers)

Registration

  • Visit the National Scholarship Portal Click here

  • Complete the student registration (new user).

  • Verify mobile number and email.

2. Login

  • Log in to the portal using credentials.

  • Select Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students – Assam.

3. Fill the Application Form

  • Enter personal details

  • Enter academic details

  • Provide bank account information

  • Select institution

4. Upload Documents

  • Upload scanned copies of all required documents.

  • Ensure clarity and proper file size.

5. Submit Application

  • Review application carefully.

  • Submit the form online.

6. Verification

  • Application goes for:
    (a) Institute-level verification
    (b) State/Nodal Officer verification

7. Scholarship Disbursement

  • After approval, scholarship amount is transferred directly to the student’s bank account under DBT mode.
