The Post Matric Scholarship (PMS-SC) is a Government of India scheme under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment designed to:
Increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of SC students in higher education.
Provide financial support to SC students after Class 10 onwards for continuing their studies.
Cover students belonging to SC categories who are studying within India.
Support students from the poorest households so they can complete post-secondary education.
The scheme covers all courses after Class 10 including:
Diploma, ITI, Polytechnic
UG (B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech, B.E., MBBS, etc.)
PG courses
Professional courses (Engineering, Medical, Law, Management, etc.)
Non-degree courses (Class XI, XII, Vocational courses)
Belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community.
Be a domicile of the concerned State/UT.
Have passed Matriculation / Higher Secondary / Recognized equivalent exam.
Have annual parental income ≤ 2,50,000 from all sources.
Be studying in a recognized institution within India.

These will increase based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) every year.
Every eligible SC student gets a Freeship Card.
It ensures the student can take admission without paying any tuition fee upfront.
It contains student details, income certificate, Aadhaar, caste, previous class, etc.
Institutions must accept it and admit the student without asking for fee payment.

Before admission, the student must register on the portal Click here
Apply for the Freeship Card.
Admission is taken on the basis of the Freeship Card.
Student is not required to pay any compulsory fee.
On the day of admission, apply for the scholarship on the portal.
Upload required documents.
Institution verifies the application.
Aadhaar-based authentication.
Institution verifies attendance, admission, and fee structure.
State/UT approves the scholarship.
Amount is transferred via Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) / DBT.
Student must pass the previous class.
Maintain 75% attendance.
No need to reapply for Freeship Card; only scholarship renewal.
