The Centrally Sponsored Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for ST Students is implemented by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to provide financial assistance to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students studying from Class XI to Post-Graduation, including professional courses, diploma, vocational training, and PhD.
The scholarship covers compulsory fees + monthly stipend, paid directly to the student's bank account (DBT).
This scheme applies to students studying in recognized government, private, central, state, and accredited institutions.

? Must belong to Scheduled Tribe (ST) of the respective domicile state.

? Passed Class 10 or Higher Secondary or any higher exam of a recognized board.

? Annual family income ≤ 2.5 lakh from all sources.

? Should not be receiving any other scholarship at the same time.

? Must have a valid bank account linked with Aadhaar and mobile number.

? Eligible institutions include:

  • Government Colleges/Universities

  • Institutions of National Importance

  • UGC recognized universities

  • NAAC/NBA accredited private universities

  • AICTE/MCI/other regulatory approved institutions

  • Class XI & XII recognized schools

  • Polytechnic, ITI, Diploma institutes

  • NCVT vocational institutes

? Not eligible:

  • Students studying in Top Class Institutions covered under another MoTA scheme

  • Students who have completed one stream and want another (e.g., BA → BCom)

Full non-refundable compulsory fees are covered.
Fee ceilings for private institutes:

  • Engineering: up to 2.5 lakh/year

  • MBBS/MS/MD: up to 6 lakh/year

  • Other courses: up to 1 lakh/year

Fees are paid directly through DBT.

Step 1: Visit the NSP Portal

Go to the official website: National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – scholarships.gov.in


Step 2: New Registration

  1. Click “New Registration” on the homepage.

  2. Read the Guidelines for Registration carefully.

  3. Tick the undertaking/consent box.

  4. Click Continue.


Step 3: Fill the Registration Form

Enter the following details:

  • Login
  • Student Name (as per Aadhaar)  

  • Mobile Number

  • Email ID

  • Gender

  • Bank Account Number & IFSC

  • Aadhaar Number

 An OTP will be sent to your mobile for verification.

After verification, your NSP Application ID will be generated.
(This ID is very important for login.)


Step 4: Login to NSP

  1. Go to Student Login → Select Academic Year.

  2. Enter:

    • Application ID

    • Password

    • Captcha

  3. Click Login.

On first login, you must change your password.


Step 5: Fill the Scholarship Application Form

Complete the form by entering:

  •  Personal Details
  • Religion

  • Category (SC/ST/OBC/General/Minority)

  • Annual Family Income

  • Aadhaar / EID details

 Academic Details

  • Current Course

  • Previous Qualification

  • Roll Number

  • Institution details (Select from dropdown)

 Bank Account Details

  • Your name must match bank account name

  • Provide correct IFSC & account number


Step 6: Upload Required Documents

Documents vary by scholarship but usually include:

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Income Certificate

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)

  • Bonafide Certificate

  • Marksheet (previous exam)

  • Bank passbook copy

  • Fee Receipt / Admission proof

  • Domicile Certificate

  • Disability Certificate (if applicable)
