Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai was established in the year 2016 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh after reconstituting the Uttar Pradesh Rural Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Saifai, which was established in the year 2005. The University was established by an Act no.15 of 2016 of the state legislature of Uttar Pradesh as a State University vide notification no. 742(2)/LXXIX-V-1-16-1(ka)-7-2015 dated 17.05.2016 In accordance with the Uttar Pradesh Extraordinary Gazette, 17 May, 2016; the University (Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences) shall be constituted of five faculties namely, Medicine, Dental, Paramedical Sciences, Nursing and Pharmacy.The University is listed in UGC as State University under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.

  Along with the M.Ch. program, University also offers postgraduate programs M.D. and M.S. (106 seats) under the faculty of Medicine, M.D.S. in Periodontology (03 seats) under the faculty of Dental Sciences, M.P.T. (12 seats), M. Optometry (06 seats), MSc MLT (06 seats), MRIT (06 seats) under the faculty of Paramedical Sciences. Post Graduate programs of M. Pharm. (24 seats) under the faculty of Pharmacy, M.Sc. Nursing (15 seats) under the faculty of Nursing has been approved from the Government and shall be started soon. In Undergraduate Programs, University offers M.B.B.S. (200 seats) along with 60 seats in each of the disciplines of Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Optometry, Radiological Imaging Technology, Nursing and Pharmacy. University also offers various diploma programs in the Paramedical Sciences and Nursing faculty affiliated with the Uttar Pradesh State Medical Faculty.

The University has state of art infrastructure with 1050 bedded tertiary care hospital including 150 bedded Emergency, Trauma and Burn Centre. The University has recently inauguratednew project of 528 bedded super speciality hospital while 300 bedded Maternal and Child Health Care hospital is an upcoming project.

• The aim is to promote and facilitate medical and biomedical education and research in an endeavour to provide cost-effective tertiary medical care to the people of rural India.

Mission

• To disseminate and advance knowledge in medicine, dentistry, paramedical sciences, nursing and pharmacy; and to ensure efficient and systematic instructions, teaching, training and research therein.
• To provide for super specialty hospital and trauma center by upgrading the existing institution, to establish them a centre of excellence and provide patient care.
• To establish a center for training of teachers.
• To develop training center and facilities for paramedical human resource
• To administer, manage and control the hospitals, pathological laboratories, diagnostic centers, blood banks, and such other peripheral specialized hospital related services and facilities.
• To establish as and when required, specialized and individual departments to deal with emerging medical and surgical specialties and sub- specialties.
