ASTU M.Tech Admission 2026 Counselling Schedule Released; GATE Counselling on July 20, Entrance Test for Non-GATE Candidates on July 29

Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) has officially published the Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for admission to its In-Campus M.Tech programmes in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Energy Engineering for the 2026 academic session.

According to the notification, GATE-qualified candidates will participate in the counselling and admission process on 20 July 2026, whereas non-GATE applicants must appear for the ASTU M.Tech Entrance Examination 2026, scheduled for 29 July 2026.

GATE Counselling Schedule

Candidates holding a valid GATE score must report for counselling as per the following schedule:

ASTU has advised all shortlisted candidates to report before the scheduled reporting time. Candidates failing to attend counselling may lose their allotted seats, which will be offered to the next eligible candidate based on merit.

ASTU M.Tech Entrance Examination for Non-GATE Candidates

Candidates without a valid GATE score will be required to appear for the university entrance examination.

The university will prepare a merit list based on the entrance examination, and admissions will be offered against vacant seats remaining after GATE admissions.

Eligibility Criteria

For M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, candidates must possess:

  • B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering; or
  • MCA or M.Sc. in Computer Science/Information Technology.
  • Minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).

For M.Tech in Energy Engineering, candidates should have:

  • B.E./B.Tech. in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Electronics, Instrumentation, Agricultural Engineering or other relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).

Candidates awaiting their final semester results may also apply, subject to submission of the required documents within the stipulated period.

Documents Required for Counselling

Candidates must carry the original documents along with self-attested photocopies, including:

  • Online application form
  • Application fee receipt
  • Valid GATE scorecard (where applicable)
  • Academic mark sheets and certificates
  • Proof of Date of Birth
  • Migration Certificate (if applicable)
  • Anti-ragging affidavit
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS)
  • Aadhaar Card or other government-issued photo ID
  • Three recent passport-size photographs

Admission Fee and Important Instructions

Candidates must pay the prescribed admission fee immediately after counselling to confirm seat allotment. Failure to make the payment will result in cancellation of the allotted seat, which will then be offered to the next eligible candidate.

The university has also clarified that:

  • Reservation policies will be followed as per Government norms.
  • Admission will be confirmed only after successful document verification and fee payment.
  • Fee refunds will be governed by the University's refund policy.
  • Cash payments will not be accepted.
