The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially announced that it will not conduct the proposed pre-round seat allotment for UGCET 2026 admissions. Instead, the authority will begin the first round of seat allotment directly as per the published counselling schedule.
According to the official notification dated 19 June 2026, the decision has been taken due to the postponement of the NEET UG 2026 admission process following the cancellation of the earlier medical examination and the subsequent re-examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). KEA stated that delays in NEET results could have affected admissions to other professional courses if the pre-round allotment had continued.
Initially, KEA had planned a pre-round seat allotment to help candidates make informed decisions before the first official counselling round. However, after receiving feedback from students and parents regarding confusion over accepting pre-round seats, fee payment, participation in subsequent rounds, and medical admissions, the authority decided to withdraw the proposal.
KEA has advised all eligible candidates to start entering their college and course preferences according to the officially released first-round counselling schedule. The authority also urged candidates to carefully read the "UGCET-2026 Method of Online Seat Allotment" information bulletin available on the official website before filling their options.Click here
Candidates seeking admission to Engineering, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Sciences, Yoga & Naturopathy, B.Sc. Nursing, and other professional courses are advised to regularly check the KEA portal for further counselling updates, seat allotment notifications, and admission instructions.
