Maharashtra CET Cell Revises CAP 2026 Seat Acceptance Fee for Engineering Admissions; New Fee Structure Announced

news-img

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced a revised Seat Acceptance Fee structure for candidates participating in the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) 2026 for First-Year B.E./B.Tech admissions.

According to the official notification issued on 19 July 2026, the revised fee structure will come into effect from the 2026-27 academic session. The seat acceptance fee will now depend on how many times a candidate accepts a newly allotted seat, rather than the CAP round in which the allotment is received.

Revised Seat Acceptance Fee Structure

The updated Seat Acceptance Fee is as follows:

Seat Acceptance Fee
First Seat Acceptance ?1,000
Second Seat Acceptance (Betterment) ?2,000
Third Seat Acceptance (Betterment) ?3,000

The CET Cell has clarified that this is a non-refundable processing fee, and candidates must pay the applicable amount separately every time they accept a new seat through the betterment process.

Fee Based on Number of Seat Allotments

The revised policy makes it clear that the fee is not linked to the CAP round, but to the number of times a candidate accepts a newly allotted seat.

For example:

  • A candidate accepting a seat for the first time will pay ?1,000, irrespective of whether the allotment is received in CAP Round 1, 2, 3 or 4.
  • If the candidate later receives a better seat and accepts it, the applicable fee will be ?2,000.
  • If another betterment allotment is accepted later, the fee will increase to ?3,000.

Betterment Candidates Must Pay Fresh Fee

Candidates opting for the Betterment facility should note that every newly accepted upgraded seat will attract the applicable Seat Acceptance Fee according to the revised structure.

The CET Cell has advised candidates to carefully fill their Option Form and understand the revised fee policy before accepting any allotted seat during the counselling process.Click here

Important Advisory

Candidates participating in the Maharashtra CAP 2026 Engineering Counselling should carefully review the revised Seat Acceptance Fee rules before exercising their preferences and confirming their allotments. Since the processing fee is non-refundable, candidates are encouraged to make informed decisions while choosing the Betterment option.
