The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important advisory for candidates appearing in the NEET UG 2026 examination on 21 June 2026, clarifying confusion surrounding the compensatory time mentioned on admit cards.

According to the official notice issued on 20 June 2026, several candidates had raised queries on social media after noticing the letter "Y" in the "Eligibility for Compensatory Time" section of their admit cards.

NTA has clarified that only candidates whose admit card specifically mentions "Eligibility for Compensatory Time: Yes" are entitled to extra examination time. Candidates whose admit cards display only the letter "Y" are not eligible for compensatory time.

The agency stated that all relevant information regarding scribe facilities and compensatory time for eligible PwD/PwBD candidates has already been clearly mentioned on the admit cards.

Candidates seeking further clarification have been advised to refer to the Guidelines for Conducting Written Examination for Persons with Disabilities issued by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, along with Paragraph 5 of Chapter 7 of the NEET UG 2026 Information Bulletin.

NTA has also urged all candidates to rely only on the official websites for the latest announcements and examination-related updates. The NEET UG 2026 examination will be conducted on 21 June 2026 across designated centres in India. Click here
