The National Medical Commission (NMC) has officially released the MBBS seat matrix for the 2026–27 academic session, confirming a total of 1,36,939 MBBS seats across medical colleges in India. The latest seat matrix includes 9,911 newly added MBBS seats, making it the largest MBBS intake in the country's history.
The increase in seats comes ahead of the NEET UG 2026 counselling process, offering medical aspirants more opportunities for admission into government and private medical colleges.
