The University of Gour Banga (UGB), West Bengal, has officially released the notification for Postgraduate (PG) Admissions 2026-27. Eligible candidates can apply for admission to various MA, MSc, MCom, LL.M., M.Lib., and other postgraduate programmes offered by the university under the NEP 2020 curriculum.

According to the official notification, the online application process will commence on 9 July 2026 (2:00 PM) and continue until 31 July 2026 (11:59 PM) through the university's online admission portal.

Wide Range of PG Courses Offered

Admissions are open for several postgraduate programmes, including:

• M.A. (Arabic, Bengali, Education, English, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit, Sociology)
• M.Sc. (Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Food & Nutrition, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Physiology, Zoology)
• M.Com.
• LL.M.
• M.Lib. (Library & Information Science)
• M.A. in Mass Communication & Journalism

Admissions will be conducted in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who completed their qualifying undergraduate degree in 2024, 2025, or 2026 from a recognised university are eligible to apply.

Students awaiting their final semester results in 2026 may also apply provisionally, provided they have successfully cleared all previous semesters and upload their final results within the prescribed timeline.Applicants must also possess a valid Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) ID, which is mandatory for submitting the online application.

No Application Fee

As per the notification issued by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, no application fee will be charged for online submission of PG admission forms.

Selection Process

Admissions will be made strictly on the basis of merit, considering the marks or CGPA obtained in the Honours (CBCS)/Single Major (NEP) programme.

In case of a tie, merit will be determined based on:

• Minor subject marks (where applicable)
• Higher Secondary marks
• Madhyamik/Class X marks
• Date of Birth

The university will also conduct an Online Form of Counselling (OFOC) process after publication of the provisional merit list. Submission of the OFOC will be mandatory for consideration in the admission list.
