WBJEE 2026 Counselling Begins: Registration, Choice Filling, Seat Allotment Rules Released

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has officially announced the WBJEE 2026 counselling process for admission to undergraduate Engineering, Technology, and Architecture programmes offered by government, government-aided, and private institutions across West Bengal for the 2026-27 academic session.The counselling will be conducted entirely through a centralised online (e-counselling) system, ensuring a transparent single-window admission process for all eligible candidates.

Who Can Participate?

Candidates can participate in the counselling process if they have:

  • Qualified WBJEE 2026 with a valid General Merit Rank (GMR), or
  • Qualified JEE Main 2026 with a valid All India Rank (AIR).

The WBJEE 2026 examination was conducted on 24 May 2026, and the results have already been declared.

Three Rounds of Online Counselling

WBJEEB will conduct the counselling process in three online rounds.

Each round includes:

  • Fresh registration
  • Choice filling
  • Choice locking
  • Seat allotment
  • Seat acceptance fee payment
  • Document verification
  • Admission reporting

Fresh registration will be allowed at the beginning of every counselling round.

Counselling Registration Fee

Candidates must pay a non-refundable counselling registration fee of ?500 while completing online registration.

Seat Acceptance Fee

Candidates receiving a seat allotment for the first time must pay a Seat Acceptance Fee of ?5,000 through online mode to confirm their allotted seat.

Failure to pay the fee within the prescribed deadline will lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.

Choice Filling Guidelines

During choice filling, candidates should:

  • Select the maximum possible number of institutes and branches.
  • Arrange choices according to preference.
  • Lock their choices before the deadline.
  • Select both TFW and Non-TFW options separately if interested.

WBJEEB has advised candidates to fill at least 20 choices to improve their chances of seat allotment.

Document Verification Is Mandatory

After paying the seat acceptance fee, candidates must physically report to the allotted institute for document verification.

Documents generally required include:

  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets
  • Date of Birth proof
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • TFW certificate (if applicable)
  • OCI certificate (where applicable)

Failure to complete document verification within the stipulated period will result in cancellation of the allotted seat.

Reservation Policy

Reservation will be provided as per the Government of West Bengal norms for:

  • SC
  • ST
  • OBC
  • EWS
  • PwD

Reserved category benefits are applicable only to eligible candidates domiciled in West Bengal.

The detailed seat matrix for all participating colleges and branches will be published on the official WBJEEB counselling portal before counselling begins. Candidates should carefully review the available seats and eligibility conditions before filling their preferences.
