The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, has issued an educational notice regarding admission to Post Graduate State Quota seats in the Government Medical Colleges of Assam for the 2026 session. The notice informs candidates that the Provisional Merit List of NEET-PG-2026 for Assam State Quota seats has been published on the official website of the Directorate.
The counselling will be conducted for admission to 50% Post Graduate seats in the Government Medical Colleges of Assam and B.B.C.I., Guwahati under the Assam State Quota for the 2026 session.
Candidates who are eligible for admission to Post Graduate courses under the applicable Medical Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into Post Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses) Rules, 2021, as amended from time to time, may participate in the counselling process.
Candidates must have appeared in NEET-PG 2026 and secured the cut-off score in NEET-PG 2026 or above as declared by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi.
In addition, the candidate's name and NEET PG 2026 Roll Number must be present in the State Provisional Merit List published by the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam.
The Directorate has also issued an important instruction for candidates who are otherwise eligible under the applicable PG admission rules but whose names are missing from the provisional merit list for Assam State Quota seats.
Such candidates have been directed to submit an application on plain paper, along with the relevant supporting documents, to the office of the Director of Medical Education, Assam.
The application must be submitted by hand to the office of the undersigned at:

The last date for submission is October 16, 2026, during office hours.
DME Assam has clearly stated that no further application will be considered after October 16, 2026.
Candidates should also note that applications sent through post or email will not be accepted. Eligible candidates whose names are missing from the provisional merit list must therefore personally submit the application and relevant documents at the specified office.
Candidates have also been advised to collect the acknowledgement receipt at the time of submitting their application.
The Directorate has not announced a separate counselling date in this notice. It has stated that the date for online counselling for admission to 50% Post Graduate seats in Government Medical Colleges of Assam and B.B.C.I., Guwahati under Assam State Quota will be as per the schedule published by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Government of India.
The counselling schedule will subsequently be made available on the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam.
Candidates are therefore advised to regularly visit the official DME Assam website for updates regarding the counselling schedule, merit list and further admission instructions.
