The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, has issued an educational notice inviting applications from Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) and Non-FMG candidates for undergoing a one-year rural posting under the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam.

The opportunity is open to candidates who are permanent residents of Assam and have completed their MBBS degree from medical colleges or institutions located outside Assam. Candidates must also fulfil the eligibility conditions prescribed under the Medical Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into Post Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses) Rules, 2021, as amended up to date.

The initiative has received approval from the Government of Assam through letter No. MER.819320/28 dated 31 October 2026.

Who Can Apply for Assam Rural Posting?

The following candidates can submit applications:

• Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) who have completed their MBBS qualification outside India and are permanent residents of Assam.

• Non-FMG candidates who have completed their MBBS from medical colleges or institutions within India but outside Assam.

• Applicants must be permanent residents of Assam.

• Candidates must fulfil the applicable eligibility conditions under the Assam Postgraduate Medical Admission Rules, 2021, as amended.

Eligible candidates should be willing to undergo one year of rural posting under NHM Assam.

The Directorate will announce the counselling date separately through its official website.

How to Apply for One-Year Rural Posting Under NHM Assam?

Candidates must submit their applications through the Google Form provided by the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam.

Follow these steps:

1. Visit the official website of DME Assam: https://www.dme.assam.gov.in

2. Find the educational notice regarding the one-year rural posting under NHM Assam.

3. Open the application Google Form using the link provided below.

4. Enter the required personal, educational and other details.

5. Review the information before submitting the form.

6. Submit the application on or before 15 November 2026.

Application Submission Instructions

The Directorate has clarified that applications must be submitted through the prescribed Google Form only.

Applications sent by post or email to the offices of the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam, or National Health Mission, Assam, will not be accepted.

Candidates should ensure that their application is submitted before the deadline. Incomplete or incorrectly submitted information may affect the application process, so applicants should carefully review their details before submission.

Counselling and Institute Allotment

After receiving applications, the Directorate will conduct counselling for allotment of institutes where selected candidates will undergo their one-year rural posting under NHM Assam.

The counselling date and further instructions will be notified separately on the official DME Assam website. Applicants should regularly check the website for updates regarding counselling and institute allotment.
