The Office of the Commissioner of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh, issued a notice dated October 16, 2026, inviting fresh online registrations from eligible candidates and college choices from previously registered eligible candidates for the Stray Vacancy Round of NEET UG 2026 counselling.

The counselling will be conducted for vacant MBBS and BDS seats in government and private medical and dental colleges across Chhattisgarh. These vacancies have arisen after admissions through the third phase, also known as the Mop-up Round.

Candidates are advised to read the Chhattisgarh Medical, Dental and Physical Medicine (Physiotherapy) Undergraduate Admission Rules, 2025, particularly the provisions related to reservation, counselling procedures and bonds, before applying.

Who Can Participate in the Stray Vacancy Round?

According to the admission rules cited in the notice, the following candidates can participate:

  • Fresh applicants: Eligible candidates completing new online registration for this counselling round.

  • Previously registered candidates: Eligible candidates who were not allotted a seat in any earlier counselling round.

Candidates who received a seat allotment in an earlier round are not eligible to participate under the conditions specified in the notice.

Previously Registered Candidates Must Fill Choices Again

Previously registered candidates must complete college choice filling again within the announced schedule. Choices submitted in earlier rounds have become void and will not automatically carry forward to the Stray Vacancy Round.

Candidates who fail to submit their choices will not be considered for seat allotment in this round.

Applicants who previously selected only government medical colleges and now wish to include private medical colleges must pay the difference between the registration fee prescribed for private medical colleges and the amount already deposited. They can select private medical colleges only after paying the additional amount.

Application Editing Facility

The counselling authority will provide a free facility to edit online application details until the registration deadline. This facility applies to fresh applicants and eligible previously registered candidates.

However, certain details cannot be changed, including information obtained directly from the examination result data supplied by the Central Government, as well as the mobile number and email address entered by the candidate.

Candidates should review their applications carefully before submitting them.

Registration Fee Forfeiture Rules

Candidates should carefully consider their college preferences before locking their choices. Under the notice, if a candidate is allotted a seat in the second or any subsequent counselling round but does not take admission, or takes admission and later resigns from the seat, the deposited registration fee will be forfeited.

Applicants are therefore advised to select only those colleges in which they are genuinely willing to take admission.

NRI Category Seats and Further Allotment

The notice states that the deadline for admission under the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) category has expired. Consequently, the relevant seats have been transferred to the management quota in accordance with the Chhattisgarh Undergraduate Admission Rules, 2025.

If seats remain vacant after the Stray Vacancy Round, further allotment may be conducted based on the choices submitted during this round, provided sufficient time is available or the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) revises the admission schedule.

How to Register and Fill Choices

Eligible candidates should follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official Chhattisgarh medical counselling portal.

  2. Complete fresh online registration if applying for the first time in this round.

  3. Previously registered eligible candidates should log in and submit their college choices again.

  4. Review the selected colleges and courses carefully.

  5. Lock the choices before the applicable deadline.

  6. Regularly check the official websites for further counselling announcements.

Important Instructions for Candidates

The counselling process, including registration fee payment, college and course selection, and choice locking, must be completed by the candidates themselves. Candidates are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the information they submit.

Seat allotment is conducted online by the counselling committee constituted by the Commissioner of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh, according to the applicable rules.
