The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (J&K BOPEE) has announced the Stray Round of online counselling for admission to BAMS, BUMS and BHMS courses for the 2026 academic session.
As per Notification No. 249-BOPEE of 2026, dated 2 November 2026, the counselling round will be conducted to fill the shortfall vacancies reported by Government and private colleges and institutions across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Eligible candidates can submit their fresh online preferences through the JK BOPEE admission portal within the announced counselling window.
| Counselling Activity | Schedule |
|---|---|
| Start of online Stray Round counselling | 3 November 2026, from 11:30 AM |
| Last date for submitting preferences | 5 November 2026, midnight |
J&K BOPEE has specified the following eligibility conditions for candidates seeking participation:
Candidates who did not receive any seat in the previous counselling rounds are eligible.
Candidates who were allotted a seat in an earlier round but did not join the allotted institute can participate.
NEET UG 2026-qualified candidates who did not participate in any previous counselling round are also eligible. They must pay the counselling fee of INR 1,500 before submitting their preferences.
Candidates who have already joined and are holding a seat are not eligible to participate in this round.
The Board has clarified that reserved category seats remaining vacant during the Mop-Up Round were converted into Open Merit seats under the proviso to Sub-section 2 of Section 9 of the J&K Reservation Act, 2004.
Accordingly, all seats available in the Stray Round of BAMS, BUMS and BHMS counselling will be treated as Open Merit seats.
Candidates must submit fresh choices or preferences for the Stray Round. Preferences submitted during previous counselling rounds will be cancelled and will not be considered for this round.
Candidates who do not fill in fresh preferences within the specified choice-filling period will not be considered for seat allotment. They will also have no claim over seats allotted to other participating candidates.
J&K BOPEE has issued several important instructions for candidates participating in the Stray Round:
Candidates should carefully review the available seat matrix before submitting their preferences. The Board will upload the seat matrix separately.
Candidates must select only those colleges and courses in which they are genuinely interested.
Once a seat is allotted, it cannot be changed.
Candidates who fail to join the allotted institution within the prescribed period will lose their claim to the allotted seat.
Failure to complete the required admission formalities will result in cancellation of admission.
Candidates who have already joined and are holding a seat cannot participate in this counselling round.
The remaining terms and conditions will continue to be governed by the J&K BOPEE e-Information Brochure and previous notifications issued by the Board.
Candidates can access the counselling portal, check the separately published seat matrix and follow further updates through the official website:
