The Directorate of Medical Education, Madhya Pradesh, has issued an advisory for candidates participating in the Madhya Pradesh State-Level Combined Counselling NEET UG 2026 Mop-Up Round. The advisory, dated October 1, 2026, outlines important rules regarding the security deposit, upgradation, admission after seat allotment and resignation from allotted seats.
According to the advisory, all candidates participating in the mop-up round counselling must deposit the prescribed security amount online before filling their choices. Candidates are required to deposit INR 2,00,000, while NRI candidates must deposit INR 10,00,000 as the security amount.
For candidates who are already admitted and have opted for upgradation during the mop-up round, the security amount deposited for the mop-up counselling will be adjusted against the academic fee deposited for admission to the allotted college, as applicable.
| Candidate Category | Security Deposit |
|---|---|
| General candidates | INR 2,00,000 |
| NRI candidates | INR 10,00,000 |
The Directorate has further clarified that candidates who were admitted through the first or second counselling round and opted for upgradation in the mop-up round will have to complete the admission process again if they are upgraded to a newly allotted institution.
Even if a candidate is upgraded in terms of subject/course or category within the same previously allotted institution, the candidate will still be required to complete the admission process again at that institution.
Candidates participating in the mop-up round are therefore advised to carefully check the allotted college, course/subject and category and follow the admission instructions issued by the Directorate of Medical Education.
The MP Directorate of Medical Education has also specified the consequences for candidates who receive a seat allotment in the mop-up round but do not take admission to the allotted seat.
If a candidate is allotted a seat during the mop-up round and does not take admission after allotment, the security deposit paid before choice filling will be forfeited. This means INR 2 lakh for regular candidates and INR 10 lakh for NRI candidates will be confiscated as per the advisory.
Such candidates will also become ineligible to participate in subsequent counselling rounds.
The advisory further states that once the mop-up round counselling has commenced, if an already admitted candidate wishes to resign or leave the allotted seat, the applicable Seat Leaving Bond provisions will apply.
Candidates should therefore carefully consider their choices before participating in the mop-up round and depositing the mandatory security amount.
| Situation | Rule |
|---|---|
| Security deposit before choice filling | INR 2 lakh |
| Security deposit for NRI candidates | INR 10 lakh |
| Existing candidates opting for upgradation | Must complete admission process again after upgrade |
| Upgrade within same institution | Fresh admission process required |
| Seat allotted but candidate does not join | Security deposit forfeited |
| Non-joining after mop-up allotment | Candidate becomes ineligible for further counselling |
| Resignation after mop-up counselling begins | Seat Leaving Bond provisions applicable |
The advisory has been issued by the Directorate of Medical Education, Madhya Pradesh, under reference 110/26, for candidates participating in the state-level NEET UG 2026 mop-up counselling.
Candidates should carefully read the advisory and ensure that the required security deposit is paid before proceeding with choice filling. They should also understand the consequences of non-joining or leaving a seat after mop-up allotment.
