Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU) has released the procedure and schedule for admission to MD/MS courses under the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota at private medical colleges of private universities in Uttarakhand for the 2026–27 academic session.

According to the university notification, 15% of the All India Quota seats at Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences, Dehradun, will be earmarked for NRI candidates for the 2026–27 session, as per the Uttarakhand Government notification dated August 19, 2026.

Admission under the NRI quota will be based on candidates' merit in NEET PG 2026. Eligible candidates must complete registration, pay the prescribed fees, undergo document verification and participate in choice filling according to the announced schedule.

Uttarakhand NEET PG 2026 NRI Counselling: Important Dates

The university has announced the following schedule for the first round of counselling under the NRI quota.

The registration and choice-filling deadlines follow the counselling server time. Candidates should complete each stage within the prescribed period.

Registration Fee and Security Deposit

Candidates eligible to participate in Uttarakhand NEET PG 2026 NRI quota counselling must pay the following amounts during online registration:

The notice specifies that the security amount is non-refundable. Payment can be made through credit card, debit card or net banking.

Only candidates who have qualified NEET PG 2026 and meet the relevant eligibility conditions can register for this counselling process.

NRI Quota Eligibility and Required Documents

Candidates seeking admission under the NRI quota must provide documents supporting their eligibility and NRI status. The university has stated that the following documents may be considered for establishing eligibility:

• Foreign country passport.

• Green Card.

• Permanent Resident Card.

• Proof of residency in a foreign country issued by a competent authority.

• Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card issued by the Government of India.

The priority for allotment under the NRI quota will follow the conditions specified in the Uttarakhand Government notification dated September 12, 2026.

The allotted college will verify all relevant documents supporting the candidate's eligibility and NRI category at the time of admission. Candidates should ensure that their documents are complete and valid before attending verification.

Merit List and Document Verification

The NRI candidates' merit list is scheduled to be published on October 26, 2026. Eligible candidates must then attend document verification at the allotted college level on October 27, 2026.

Candidates should ensure that the documents submitted during registration match the original records presented for verification. Only candidates who satisfy the applicable eligibility requirements and complete the required verification process should proceed to choice filling and locking.

Choice Filling and Seat Allotment

Eligible candidates who complete document verification can fill and lock their choices between October 28 and October 30, 2026.

The university will process the counselling data from October 31 to November 1. The seat allotment result is scheduled for November 2, 2026.

Candidates should review their preferred colleges and available options carefully before locking their choices. They should also check the official counselling website for the result and instructions for downloading allotment-related documents.

Last Date to Join the Allotted College

Candidates allotted seats under the NRI quota must complete the admission process at their allotted colleges by November 10, 2026.

The university has clarified that candidates are responsible for reporting to the allotted college with all required documents within the prescribed schedule. No extension will be granted under any circumstances, according to the notice.

The State Government and Counselling Board reserve the right to modify the counselling schedule. Any revised instructions published by the authorities will apply to the admission process.
