The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam has announced the schedule for Round 1 online counselling for admission to first-year MBBS and BDS courses in government medical and dental colleges of Assam for the 2026 academic session. The counselling will be conducted for eligible candidates who have qualified in NEET UG 2026 and meet the eligibility requirements prescribed under the Assam Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Rules.
As per the official notice, online registration for Assam NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1 will begin on August 13, 2026, and remain open until August 15, 2026, up to 11:55 PM. Eligible candidates will have to complete the registration process online through the official DME Assam website.

Candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026 and fulfil the eligibility conditions under the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into 1st Year MBBS/BDS Courses) Rules, 2017, as amended up to 2026, can participate in the counselling process.
The counselling covers candidates under General, PwD and reserved categories, including SC, ST, OBC-MOBC (NCL), Moran, Motak, Tai Ahom, Chutia, Koch Rajbongshi, TGL/Ex-TGL and other notified special categories.
Special categories mentioned in the notice include Freedom Fighters, Martyrs of the Assam Movement, victims of extremist violence, Ex-Servicemen and Serving Defence Personnel, Sports and Orphan categories.
Candidates belonging to the OBC/MOBC creamy layer will have to apply under the General category.
DME Assam has clarified that eligible candidates are required to register and fill their choices through the online counselling process. There will be no separate offline counselling for the state quota seats covered under this process.
Candidates should also keep the required annexures and supporting documents ready according to the applicable MBBS/BDS Admission Rules, 2017, as amended in 2026.
After registration, candidates will be required to fill their preferred MBBS and BDS colleges and courses online between August 16 and August 18, 2026. The choice-locking facility will remain available on August 18 from 5:00 PM to 11:55 PM.
The Directorate will process the seat allotment data from August 19 to August 21, 2026. Following the completion of the allotment process, the provisionally selected candidates and admission modalities will be published on August 22, 2026.
