CUET PG 2026: NTA Issues Clarification on Rescheduled Exam and Result Preparation Process

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important clarification regarding the conduct of the rescheduled CUET PG 2026 examination and the methodology used for preparing the results. The clarification comes after the agency received several queries through emails and observed discussions on social media related to the special examination and score calculation process.

According to the public notice issued on 14 June 2026, CUET PG 2026 was originally conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple dates and shifts. However, due to circumstances beyond the control of candidates, examinations at certain centres could not be held as scheduled. These included centres in Tura, Meghalaya, where local disturbances affected the examination process, along with some overseas centres impacted by security concerns and other unavoidable situations.

To ensure that no candidate lost the opportunity to appear for the examination because of factors beyond their control, NTA organised a special rescheduled examination on 29 and 30 March 2026. The agency clarified that this was conducted purely as a welfare measure to uphold fairness and equity in the examination process.

NTA further stated that 534 candidates from Tura and 31 candidates from overseas centres were accommodated in the rescheduled examination. These candidates belonged to 28 subjects, and the special examination was conducted exclusively for them. The agency emphasised that the rescheduled examination was not part of the original examination schedule.

Addressing concerns regarding score normalization, NTA clarified that the CUET PG 2026 results have been prepared based on the actual marks obtained by candidates in their respective subjects. The candidates who appeared in the rescheduled examination were evaluated using the same marking scheme applied to all other test-takers. The agency explained that normalization is generally used when statistically comparable groups exist across multiple shifts. Since the rescheduled examination involved a relatively small number of candidates spread across various subjects, any comparison with the much larger regular candidate population would not have produced scientifically reliable outcomes.

NTA advised candidates to rely only on official communications and updates issued through the designated portals for accurate information regarding CUET PG 2026.Click here.
