The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a series of major reforms aimed at making the NEET UG 2026 counselling process more transparent, efficient, and student-friendly. The revised guidelines simplify several counselling procedures by introducing digital services that reduce the need for candidates to visit colleges physically during the admission process.

The reforms will benefit thousands of MBBS and BDS aspirants participating in the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling conducted by MCC.

No Physical Reporting Required for Seat Upgrades

One of the biggest changes introduced by MCC is that candidates opting for seat upgradation will no longer be required to physically report to the previously allotted college.

Instead, eligible candidates can retain their participation in the counselling process while awaiting an upgraded seat without visiting the allotted institute, making the process more convenient and reducing unnecessary travel.

Online Seat Resignation Facility Introduced

MCC has also launched an online seat resignation facility.

Candidates wishing to surrender their allotted seat can now submit their resignation request digitally through the official MCC counselling portal within the prescribed timelines.

This reform is expected to speed up the counselling process and improve seat availability in subsequent rounds.

Digital NRI Document Verification

To simplify admissions under the NRI quota in deemed universities, MCC has introduced a digital document upload system.

Eligible NRI candidates can now upload all required supporting documents directly through the counselling portal for verification, eliminating the need for offline submission during the verification process.

Reforms Aim to Simplify Counselling Process

The newly introduced measures are expected to:

  • Reduce unnecessary physical reporting by candidates.
  • Make the counselling process faster and more transparent.
  • Improve digital access to counselling services.
  • Simplify NRI quota verification.
  • Enhance the overall candidate experience during NEET UG counselling.

Candidates are advised to carefully read the updated counselling guidelines and regularly check the official MCC website for further notifications regarding counselling rounds and admission schedules.Click here
