The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India, has issued an important notice for candidates participating in NEET UG Counselling 2026. The notice, dated August 19, 2026, provides revised timelines for candidates applying under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD/PwBD) category, along with an extension of the choice-filling and choice-locking facilities.
According to the MCC notice, candidates seeking to claim the 5% PwD reservation must undergo assessment at a designated Primary Medical Assessment Board. Candidates are required to report to the Primary Medical Assessment Centre by 11:00 AM on August 22, 2026. The MCC has clarified that applications from candidates reporting after the prescribed deadline will not be entertained.
Candidates applying under the PwD category must complete their primary medical assessment within the prescribed timeline. The Primary Medical Assessment Board will assess only those candidates who report by 11:00 AM on August 22, 2026.
Candidates are advised to complete the assessment process within the deadline to avoid difficulties in claiming PwD reservation during NEET counselling.
Candidates who are declared ineligible by the Primary Disability Assessment Medical Board may follow the prescribed appellate process.
The Appellate Medical Assessment Board will accept candidates reporting up to 2:00 PM on August 25, 2026. The appellate assessment process will be conducted from 2:00 PM on August 25 to 4:00 PM on August 28, 2026. No assessment will be conducted after the specified schedule.
The MCC has also extended the choice-filling facility for participating candidates. Candidates can now fill or modify their choices until 11:59 PM on August 30, 2026.
The choice-locking facility will remain available from 6:00 PM on August 29, 2026, to 11:59 PM on August 30, 2026.
Candidates should complete their choices and lock them within the prescribed timeline. MCC has advised candidates to regularly check the official website for further updates.

MCC has listed 66 designated Primary Medical Assessment Boards across different states and regions for issuing PwD Eligibility Certificates as per NMC norms. These include medical institutions in Maharashtra, Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, Bihar, Gujarat, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and other regions.
Some of the listed centres include AIIPMR Mumbai, Goa Medical College, Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram, SMS Medical College Jaipur, Government Medical College and Hospital Chandigarh, AIIMS Nagpur, ABVIMS & RML Hospital New Delhi, Lady Hardinge Medical College, AIISH Mysuru, AIIMS Bilaspur, AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AIIMS Bibinagar, AIIMS Jammu, JIPMER Puducherry and AIIMS Bhopal, among others.
The specific disability categories for which an Eligibility Certificate can be issued vary by assessment centre. Candidates should check the designated board and applicable disability category before reporting.
